are we old enough to know this? Back then when Tesla unveiled M3 I instantly reserved it and waited 2 yrs, 2 months & 4 days to receive very early RWD M3 (AWD not available). I know it's going to have issues & bugs-willing to accept for any early production.

This definitely sucks, but what will suck more than this is some bad journalist taking this thread out of context and quoting OP in a click-bait article to defame Cybertruck ?‍♂. This just happened with another recent thread on the tailgate issue!

Can’t control what others will do… but it’s also useful to communicate the realities of product quality to other owners n the forum. I don’t fear speaking honestly about a product I love… and to the company I own a lot of stock in when I know when they can do better. ??‍♂

I wouldn't underestimate modern tapes! But these are clearly insufficient, thus the recall on it. Pro tip if you're waiting for this fix from an SC: Pull up the top of the of trim, if it easily comes away look in there and find the two, flat foam sticky contacts that are separating. These contacts will be replaced by the SC later, but for now you can just add a dot of gorilla glue (any super glue is fine) to between the contact pads. This will allow your trim to still be safely removable without the risk of having the wind get under it and rip it off at speed.

Yeah of course. That’s what the forums are meant to be! Hope your issue gets resolved soon.

Love my CT… have over 20k miles on her in less than 6 months.

HOWEVER, the cheap plastic trim is not excusable. Broken rock guards and mud flaps are all too common. And, yesterday, my sail panel BLEW OFF while driving. Now I don’t have any tailgate or tonneau buttons outside.

I know this is a recall item, but I truly hope there is a more durable revision than this cheap flimsy plastic cover!!! ?

Yes, it’s a recalled item. I would follow the advice in this thread and secure it from flying off until your service appointment. ?

Mine just fell off today. I thought the CT was vandalized at first and then remembered hearing something during my one hour drive. It must been this part ripping off and flying towards other cars (I hope not). Very dangerous.

That’s a bummer. Mine lifted on he freeway and I was able to pull over in both instances and secure with double sided tape I had in the cab.
Tesla just did the recall for me and the entire thing was replaced in both sides. Now rock solid.
unfortunately that means they scrapped my old panels with xpel armor wrap I bought from abstract ocean.

I had my xpel wrap sitting in the garage waiting for them to replace mine last year - put it on as soon as I got home from the SC lol

I’ll email @AO-Pete and see what it it’ll cost to replace them. Debating whether to do it but my aeroflap and side pieces around the glass are covered in it already so it looks a little mismatched

Been putting it off but eventually I plan to get these SS sail panels which bolt down at the crossbar attach points. The existing panels are poor quality at best (brittle) and impacted by sun heat. I bought the tailgate cap from this small producer and they are high quality. These fit over the existing OEM panels. Just an fyi for benchmarking.
