Epic Fail! - Cyberbeast - Tires shot at 6251 miles!!!

Seems insane Goodyear wouldn’t stand by its tires independent of Tesla. I really hope that was a one off - the truck has been great so far but that made no sense to me. I’m a highway driver mostly speed limit plus 5-7mph. Nothing crazy

GY tires are notorious for being crap. We used to get 50% on our fire dept as part of the CO state plan for our personal vehicles. They had no warranty and they lasted 10k miles on our bigger RAMs and Fords. But the best set of tires I ever owned was Michelin Defenders. At 30k miles they still had nearly full tread on a Ford F350 Diesel (heavy torque and 8k lbs). I never had a tire last that long and I am confident it would have made it to 50k miles.

At 6251 miles the H speed rated tire on the Cyberbeast is down to 5/32 and 4/32 with irregular degradation.

Got my Cyberbeast on June 25th. Truck has always been driven ONLY on streets and highways. Never taken off road. Never hit top speed of 132 mph. Yes did experience the beast mode and 0 to 60 in 2.6 a few times.
Yesterday I was going to go to get tires rotated as recommened in the manual at 6250. Truck is a t 6251 miles AND.... I noticed tread is low.

I measured it. 5/32 on rears and 4/32 on fronts. WOW! That's insane!

I did some research and the H speed rated tire has a sticker rubber. But for it to last just 6K to 7K miles on the Cybebeast has to be a manufacturing defect. These tires are specially made for the Cybebeast so for them to be this bad is unforgivable. I have an appointment on Oct 1st to discuss this with TESLA.

So, yes beast mode will definitely eat your rubber/credit card. My first plaid S I got less than 6k on the tires before they started bleeding air my second plaid X I slowed down a little and got around 14k before replacing them. Now my second set of tires for the Xplaid have around 27k on them with probably 5k to7k left before needing replacement. It’s all about driving habits with super cars!!! But yes, my first super car model S I was surprised when I had to replace the rears at 6k. Then I remembered when I was sixteen and burned through a set of tires in one weekend. So yes, it’s all about that foot on the floor/friction/math!

I hope this releases some of the stress, knowing your next set can last much longer.
My CT has a little over 14k on the tires and I’m told the wear is even and no need to rotate at this time. ?

Drove my 2018 M3 in Chill Mode just around town to work and back home and sure enough had to replace my tires in less than one year.

Traded it shortly after…?

Have 4,606 on my current, and the tires look brand new still?! Chill mode!

I put 275/65/20 Michelin Agilis CrossClimate on my Truck and i get more range and they ride alot better

I still drive and have my BMW M850 Grand Coupe and Mercedes AMG E53 Cabriolet… sooo yes. I drive those cars like they were intended to be driven. I don’t tailgate anyone, I’m not an aggressive driver on the road, but if I’m at a traffic stop and no cops around and I’m on the line… I’m taking off. If there is no one on the corner, I’m cornering hard. However that is only in those cars that are super low profile compared to the CB. The CB, I’ve never even hit 132 mph, never cornered hard… just seems unnatural with how high it sits and never took it off road.

Had I done all that and shot my tires at least I would have got my money’s worth. This is regular not hard driving and tires are shot.

Not sure if you understand how to drive any of those vehicles properly. But I get it. So many cars. Not enough money for tires, but enough time to go online and whine about it. That’s the typical rich man’s MO.

If you can afford the Breast then a couple grand in tires is BS money. I bet you had lots of fun in that bad ass truck for the last 7,000 miles! Maybe lay off the launches?

Yeah, my Tesla Service rep in Rocklin, CA (when I lived in Kalifornia) told me to "suck it up, buttercup, you’re playing with the big boys now.” …but $1500 annually still stuck in my cheap-ass throat so I eventially tucked tail and got me a Model 3 with standard rims/tires. I guess it’s a matter of degree. I might say the same thing to a Ferrari owner. And while the tire wear, driving style, road surface, torque, etc all play their part, so do individual risk tolerances/preferences-priorities, etc. Oh, and age. I’m old. So now I sound like my father with statements & choices towards the practicality end of the spectrum, LOL. Finally, some people can afford a $100k car/truck not “in spite of” money management, but because of it. Now, I’m gonna go finish my coffee and "get the papers, get the papers.” ?? Ciao, tutti. E' una bella fine settimana!

I think you didn’t get my point. Yes I’m rich and unapologetic about it because it was earned. Came to this country as a 23 year old with $100 in my pocket and a job to look forward to; 29 years ago; legally I might add; made my fortune the old fashioned way and embodied the American Dream. Love my country and everything it has given me.
My gripe is the tires are shot when I didn’t drive the truck hard… just normal driving and tires are shot. That shouldn’t be happening. My gripe isn’t about lack of money. It’s about getting value for money which I feel I didn’t get with these OEM factory tires. Oh well!

Well said. Especially the “because of money management” part. That is the point some here are not getting. It’s not about if you can afford something. Yes I can and will continue to replace tires on the truck… it’s about getting value for money. When I plunked down $130K with taxes on the beast, I expected TESLA to deliver a product with tires that would go lot more… clearly I was expecting too much ?
