Tesla basically just told me to either take delivery of a foundation series truck or lose $1000 dollars and place a new order for a non foundation series truck when it comes out.

Is tesla in the right here?

Well they did say it's a non-refundable deposit. That means if you change your mind you lose it.

Its a non refundable deposit for a cybertruck, the foundation series is listed as a configuration option

Did you configure a non-FS for your order?

If you paid $1000 after configuring a Foundation Series, then yes, it was very clearly non-refundable as this is you ordering the truck.
If you did not configure the Foundation Series, then you did not pay $1000 for a deposit and your reservation of $100-$250 is indeed refundable.

Are you saying i should let it go? If thats the concensus than i will
I don't think you should. The price difference between FS and non-FS is not that much.

Do you blame Tesla? The bottom is going to fallout soon and my Cyberbeast is going to lose 50% in value.

Doesn’t matter to me, I didn’t buy this as an investment. I enjoy spending my husband’s money.

Almost all new cars lose value pretty rapidly, right at first. But 50% is not based on anything. Let's say the anticipated pricing happens, $79,990 for Dual and $99,990 for Cyberbeast. And that's without FSD, all weather mats and the other goodies. Basically, at best, you could buy a Cyberbeast with FSD and some of the goodies for $110K new. That would be only $10K less than they are currently selling for. No way would a lightly used Cyberbeast with all the goodies sell for $60K (50% of the current price).

It's a BS analysis.

"BS analysis"? It is inevitable that these FS Cybertrucks will indeed sell for 50% or less than the purchase price in a few years. In March, I bought a 2018 Model X 100D from Tesla (1 yr or 10K miles warranty) for $41K. It had 49K miles on the ODO, all possible options plus FSD. That vehicle originally cost over $150K and it looks, feels and drives almost like a new Model X.

IMHO, the Cyberbeast has less real world utility than a 6 seat Model X and I'm actually happy that Tesla decided to strap a $50K price gouge on the FS Cybertruck. Now, when I see one drive by I think thank god I'm not strapped with that over priced monstrosity as my daily driver. Of course I think the person who originally bought my X was foolish too but as they say, a fool and his money are soon parted ...

6yr old car 49k on the odo and a 1yr warranty…… have at it man. That’s a hard pass for me.
