And how many Cybertrucks will ever need them?
How many? I don't give a flying frisbee. Most of these items follow under the list of wants. I know very few that need them.

Edit:
I see 12 thumbs up. 2 Laughs. Those 2 laughs are people don't own Cybertrucks. Could be trolls as sometimes laugh is used as a thumbs down. Laughing as one is wrong..... @Crissa @Woodrick any thoughts on that those responses. Maybe someone needs them.

it’s interesting what people “think” should have been included in the Cybertruck.

All I can think is, but why do you think that?

Im thankful it’s offered as an add on. I don’t like spending more money, but that’s just me. I most likely will pay extra for the battery protection, for just in case. However, I’d appreciate if it’s included in the foundation price (but I don’t expect it).

Because now it is almost a required add-on. The protection there isn't good enough right now for protection from rock issues is what the engineer from Tesla is saying. You need this now. Wait you didn't have it. Oh I'm sorry you need a whole new battery.

Oh we think you were off-roading why didn't you buy the skid plate protection package. Customer says I'm just driving down daily dirt roads. I don't do any rock crawling or anything. Well. You should have bought this.

Sorry, when I thought I heard the word cybertruck and the description of a blade runner or something on Mars, I would think that rock coverage is one of those things. Yes I was wrong. It's just an average daily pickup truck that is trying to masquerade as being superb in a world-ending apocalypse scenario.

you thought you’d be driving on Mars with this truck? Blade Runner was (is) a work of fiction.

Aside from this video, how many actual users has this issue affected?

I see the humor. You wanted an actual response and you respond with humor. Funny. Did you not understand the word description in the previous post? Did you not hear Elon musk saying how that this is a apocalypse truck blade runner something that would be used on Mars, or to that effect?

Yep, it's apocalypse proof except for rocks if you buy it stock or get the foundation series with all the bells and whistles.

Edit: WTH does number of users have to do with anything? Affected? Maybe from ones ineptness.
Second edit. Nice Edit@Liver. You changed the entire post.

It should come with the “Premium Accessories” with the Foundation Series. I have a Bison Edition Chevy ZR-2 and it comes with Boron Steel Skid Plates in that Package.

if it affects a single user who took off the bumper and took off the aluminum skid plate, I think it’s really important on how many users it’s affected.

How can you not see that?

There have already been 2 CT fires that I am aware of. Additional armor could have prevented them. Tesla added protection to the battery when an object could pierce the bottom of the Model S.

Not to mention you cannot escape from the CT if the doors cannot open because the windows are shatterproof.

Disclaimer: I understand no vehicle is fire proof.

If this was a CT, that person would be BBQ. Imagine burning alive with your kids behind you, I think about it sometimes. I will take some extra armor for 0.1 less miles per kWh any day.

How much FUD can you add?

So how did the recent thief "peel the window open" after hitting it with a rock?

In what cases has all 4 doors been blocked from opening and in what case would even a single door being blocked, be different than any other vehicle?

FUD, just FUD.

That thief was only able to peel the window back because it was already partially open so he could slip his fingers in.

In the video I posted you can clearly see a situation where the doors cannot open because they are physically blocked or engulfed in fire.

Yes this is FUD. Auto accidents are a leading cause of death... If you are going to fear anything, it should be that.

This is a Cybertruck forum so I am talking about the Cybertruck, it doesn't matter if the same situation could happen to another vehicle.

All windows being laminated glass is not unique to the Cybertruck, but it's still rare among vehicles. Combined with that the hydrant piercing the battery pack and starting a fire. That is the recipe for danger that I think extra armor could help reduce.

it does not get any closer then that. Bravo to the woman at the end of the video, grabbing the guy out the window.

Wes Morrill (Cybertruck lead engineer) says:

Battery armor and Rock sliders will be available as a retrofit option end of this year.

They will sell a lot of these even though less than half of CT owners need it. If I went rock crawling regularly I would consider it "must-have" but for urban use, it amounts to very expensive insurance against driving over a fire hydrant. That said, I will probably still get it. I think the last time I was as excited about customizing my ride was when I was in high school.

I think additional plates are awesome. They've very useful when crawling over rocks. I keep thinking of adding them to my last few vehicles... I've sheered off stuff under there.

But realistically, plastic was always better and cheaper for keeping brush and sand out and telling me I'd hit ground than metal that bent instead of flexed.

No, I don't think they'll protect against slamming into the ground at high speed and shattering the truck or high siding on a hydrant.

Sorry I didn't read the second page until today - the forum has been busy!
