With my model S, the aero covers still allow enough tire valve exposure to add air to the tires with the covers on. However, with the new aero covers for my CT with all season tires, it appears the valves are deep enough that I need to remove the aero covers if I want to add air to the tires. Not the end of the world, but just a bit annoying and confusing why they didn’t design some type of small cut out so that the stems could be accessible. Anybody else notice this?
I have just posted a YouTube video on this very subject

Cybertruck Core Wheels, All-Season Tires: Adding Air Pressure, Wheel Cover Removal and Installation.

All personal preference, but I think I’m going to remove my aero caps, and only use them when we’re going on a long trip with the “hope’ that they actually improve range. I really don’t like the look, and that way it’s much easier to put air in the tires when needed. Again, others may like the look, to each his own!

Would be great if somebody could do some type of controlled test to see if they actually improve mileage enough to use. But I suspect because the improvement is so minimal, that if you can’t control for other factors that affect range more heavily, it may dilute any benefit seen (or artificially inflate the benefit). Sorry for the dad pun. ?

FWIW, I bought the Milwaukee 18 V 2848-20 battery operated tire inflator. Works like an absolute charm if you need to put a few pounds in one tire at a time. A bit costly, but from an ease of use perspective, it’s outstanding.

That cover seriously scratched up the wheel.
I think it was my mistake not knowing how to put the cover back on properly. I mistakenly thought the cover's clips would go on the spokes. That was wrong. The clips actually go BETWEEN the spokes. The heavy scratches shown in the video were not that bad, they were mostly dirt marks that I was able to brush off with my fingers. I cleaned the worst-looking "scratch" (not on video) and left the rest that was shown in the video because they were not seen anyway.

That makes sense now, so only the plastic part of the clips make contact with the wheel.

The reason for this is that the aero covers must line up with the pattern on the tire and since the tire can be mounted on the rim in any location, it is impossible to make a cutout that that lines up the tire, the rim, and the cover.
I’m pretty sure Kyle talked about this in depth on outofspec or maybe it was on Munro (bunny hop, kangaroo one of those two ‘[iykyk ?]). They explained this exact reason. It wasn’t an oversight it was a trade-off. You can decide where you stand on style over function.

has anyone looked at attaching air valve stem extenders and then drilling a small hole in the wheel cover to feed it through for quick easy access? these are readily available online

I thought about it but the valve stem extenders are just another leak path and the wheel covers are easy to pop off.

Why think? When all one has to do is design. Why test? When all one thinks about is how to get it out the door.

I imagine waking up in Manitoba at a Holiday Inn Express. -29F. Having to go across to Canadian Tire for air. Not being able to remove frozen covers for inflation. That happens when a cold front comes through.
The guys at Canadian Tire were too incompetent to remove wheel covers that had some snow and ice on them? May be a good idea going forward to remove the covers ahead of time if you know extreme weather is coming soon.

There’s a hack for this. Search: Hack for Cybertruck Tire Valve. Also there is an issue with wheel cover removal. I’ve already lost one of the metal spring clips ! I would prefer to never remove wheel covers.
