I agree with what you are saying here, but the issue is that Tesla is now delivering wheel covers to new buyers while original buyers are still waiting for months after they promised we were in the queue. It's like going to Burger King and ordering a Whopper and they say, we got to cook it for you so your number is 5. Then you sit for hours while they give out Whoppers to new customers who walk in and order. You then ask, hey where's my Whopper and they tell you it's coming (or they ignore you). Meanwhile new Whoppers going to new customers. MMMM, now I want some BK. ?
I see equipping all new builds with wheel covers first as the most efficient way to do it. They have already made me wait 5 months, I don't see 2-3 more weeks as a problem. It reduces the number of customers that have to deal with it. The fewer buyers they cause to have to self-install them or make a special trip to a service center to have them installed, the better. This allows the maximum number of customers to not "see" this issue.

I know you will disagree with this, just know that the customer ends up paying for all inefficiencies one way or another.

Based on my experience resolving issues with accessories, I assume this department has no clue what they’re doing. If this is the department who is handling due wheel covers we’re in for a ride. ?

Dude I agree with that and I already said I did. But they need to also be getting these out to existing customers who have been waiting months and months. You said we could wait another 2-3 weeks but based on how things are going we will be waiting 2-3 months. I have no confidence at this point. And despite efficiency, they should be getting these out to existing customers because it is the right thing to do.

I was in for service today to get the real truck bed appliqué replaced and windshield wiper motor. Thought I’d had an in with the service advisor and he said he’d check with parts for the wheel covers. No luck. Said they were shipping them to existing owners. Argh. About 6 CT’s on lot, I was pleased to at least see non of them had covers. It made me feel better. ?

I took delivery of my beast 9/4 and it had the AT wheel covers. Another guy was taking delivery of a beast at the same time and he didn’t have covers. Just luck of the draw…Love the look with them on.

Also interesting to see his truck had some rust around the exposed axel hub nut where as mine was clean and shiny silver when I took one of the covers off.

the new trucks have them in the bed, I guess so nobody will rip them off and take them.

It's BS and I recommend you reach out to Siddhant Awasthi on X and let him know what you think about it like I did. He is the Cybertruck Product Manager and has taken responsibility for the wheel cover deliveries in postings on X. His X handle is @siddawa and if you let me know about the post, I will chime in as well. If they hadn't sent out emails to everyone two months ago and then several weeks ago he even said they were moving to deliver these to current customers, it would be different. I know service centers in Florida that have delivered some but my service centers in North Carolina tell me they are not available in this region yet. I guess Elon needs to bring a rocket scientist from SpaceX over to distribute these things. This is product 101. I have worked in manufacturing and I know how these are made (injection molded plastic, extruded rubbers, stamped metal) and they could literally make enough of these for existing customers in 1-2 weeks, assuming they are not making them by hand. Then I would load up the beds of every freaking CT headed to a SC with these things and immediately send a notification to existing owners to go ahead and book an appt a couple of weeks out so their covers will arrive by the time of the appt. I can come up with multiple ways to get this done, so I don't know why they can't get these out when they obviously have them.

Thank you Jameskk!! I couldn't say it better. I started to think I was the only one that saw it for what it is. I appreciate your opinion.

I have my Cybertruck in the SC today for some minor issues and asked the Tesla employee at the receiving desk about the wheel covers. He said that the 2nd revision that went out is being discontinued due to continued problems. Kinda took the air out of my sail, but that’s what I was told. Hope it’s not true.

That's not true. Some were installed improperly and came off, but that's it. They are currently distributing these to "YouTube influencers" and on new deliveries.

They are likely spreading the fake news you heard just to keep from looking bad.

I truly hope you’re correct after waiting all this time for the covers. Hopefully the South County St Louis SC is misinformed and we will continue to see the aero covers being installed.

I was at the service center this past Friday and there were probably 30 CT in the lot. All of the core wheels had covers and Pirelli tires. None of the AT Goodyears did.

Probably because these monkeys can't even line the notches up correctly.
