For the first time, ever, I was happy to lose utility A/C power to my house.

Why? Because it was the only way - as far as I can tell - to test the PowerShare installation that was completed a few weeks ago. My installation configuration doesn't include a way for me to interrupt utility power to my backed-up distribution panel, so there was no way for my to test the system's backup capability without having the utility company disconnect power to the house.

Earlier this week, while watching the news, all the house lights and my TV went off. As soon as I realized what happened I headed to the garage to make sure my truck was plugged in and to switch off one of the air conditioner loads on the backed-up panel, but before I got there the system switched over and worked perfectly.

When power was restored about 30 minutes later I could tell immediately because the lights powered by my other, non-backed-up distribution panel came on. The PowerShare system delayed for about five minutes then switched the backed-up panel to utility power.

Success!

Nice, I got to use mine twice last week. Quick power blip, then boom, back online. So nice.

Very cool! Mine was just installed last week but until PG&E approves the work I can only charge the CyberBeast and there is no bidirectional charging. I am told it could take months to up to a year to get the PG&E sign off....

When I switch off the "Service Disconnect" in the Gateway, PowerShare kicks in.
That's the 200A breaker in the Gateway, I assume.

Thanks, Gus. I'll try that

Awesome. Do you guys also have Tesla solar hooked up to the gateway as well by any chance?

No, I don’t have much available sun due the trees around my house, so the payback period is impossibly long. We would never recover the cost.

After ordering the Powershare Gateway and Universal Wall Connector, the final piece is being delivered today. I already have an electrician lined up and he said the call and set up an installation date.

Ordered both: 9/04
Received UWC: 9/10
Received PG: 9/19 allegedly... Though, it's felt like Months from the order.

Other than making sure we identify the right circuits, what else do I need to do or ask during the first meeting with the electrician?

What do I need to check prior to the electrician departing after installation?

Will it pop up in my Tesla app immediately?

Is there a way to make sure it is commissioned or enabled through Tesla?

What's the best way to test it?

I've gleaned a couple of things from the forum here:

1. It used to take a long time to get the system up and running but that could have changed for the better now.
2. Don't bother resetting clocks or be surprised that the power will go out a second time approximately 5 minutes after grid power is restored. This is to prevent the system from cycling during power burps.
3. It can be tested by simply flipping your main breaker. I have two main breakers, so I don't know how THAT is going to work... maybe flipping both. No, one is NOT a sub panel. I have a 200 Amp and a 150 Amp box.

Okay, fellow Cybertruck owners/waiters/enthusiasts/fans, help a fellow member out here.

You guys have been great! Sorry about hijacking this thread but it seemed fitting.

3. You open up the white Tesla gateway and there's a breaker there you need to flip to test it

Thanks. I knew I saw that on this forum. They won't be able to do a whole house for me because they can only pull 10 120V circuits, I believe. But, they apparently can also pull 240v circuits.

I have a few 240v circuits that we'd like to keep active (water, septic pump, basement level heat pump so pipes don't freeze, refrigerator circuit, living room, office.)

I think it's 3 240v circuits and 4 120v circuits. That gets me to 10 spots.
