Does it really take that long to provide power or is that configurable like a generator?

My understanding is if just using the gateway and the PowerShare there will always be a 1-2 min delay. If you need instantaneous switchover then you need to add a V3 powerwall to the mix for the ultimate home backup solution.

It won't change the behavior. The most that needs to happen with your setup is that the 240V charge connector (any brand) needs to be moved to the backed up loads side of Gateway. Once Tesla releases Powerwall compatible Powershare software, Powershare will act as a secondary energy source. Powerwall functionality remains the same.
