Woodrick- you’ve come at me for saying there weren’t any real V4 chargers assuming I didn’t know what I was talking about (even our hero Kyle Connor says there aren’t real V4 in the US) just same V3 cabinets with fancy V4 posts except a few test sites that have different SOFTWARE same hard ware. You come at this guy for not knowing what he was talking about and making mistake #1 so on and so forth.. As far as I can tell- his trouble matches mine.. and he’s telling the truth and he’s doing nothing wrong by checking the app so long as he has a moderately current app
So give me the definition of what a V4 anything is?

The pedestals are definitely a different version hence, it wouldn't be uncommon to give an increased version number.
V2 was relatively easy to define, V3 definitely had a definition. But that's about it.
But 800V cabinets don't exist from everything that I've heard.

Yes I left it plugged in. That’s what I meant when I said I set it to hold at 50%. I meant I set it to charge to 50. But I can see how that wasn’t clear in my first post.

You’re still blaming me. “If the keycard (phone key) keeps getting wiped, then stop doing whatever you are doing”

All I'm doing is opening the app.

Anyway, this is an owner’s club, not Reddit, and we should be more respectful. Sorry this escalated.
Let's get thing right here.

In the second post, I didn't mention anything about the app.
In the first and third post, I asked if you had uninstalled the app. That was a simple question, no blame attached.

But by the time I got to my fourth response, you were starting to blame me for responding back with what was common responses to the normal problem. And there had not been a single post from anyone else indicating that they were having any problems with their keys.

When people are trying to help you, and they ask questions, try answering them.

Go look at the other Tesla forums, (this is a common Tesla question) you'll see that my line of questions is followed by many in response to your as-worded question.

Just guessing, but I have experienced loss of remote access via the app, due to momentary power loss to my home WiFi router. This caused a disconnect between the ip address the car had been using and the new assigned ip address assigned by the router when it restarted. If you have remote access to your router, perhaps a restart would help. (I’m not an expert, but have seen this to be an issue in my experience.)
Hmm interesting theory. I gave it a try but alas no luck. I found a help article after some digging, but confirmed that none of those things apply to my situation. Oh well.

That's probably not the problem. Your app doesn't talk to the car, it talks to the Tesla servers and the car talks to the Tesla servers. The Tesla servers act as a relay.

The issue is probably the certificate got dropped, as is the case if you uninstall and reinstall the app. Since it appears to have happened a few times, it may be an app issue. But it does not appear to be s significant one, because the boards aren't lighting up with everyone complaining about it.

We are pretty off topic I’m convinced you won’t hear it from me so here’s Kyle himself explaining it “…. So I’m hoping that when they upgrade the chargers to v4…

Past this, it belongs on the other thread

So here’s an update. I got back and reconnected the phone key. But now it gets wiped several times per day. It seems like every time there’s a sentry event recorded, it deletes my phone key. That’s the only thing I can figure. Sometimes the key will stay saved for most of the day, and if I go back to the truck before a sentry event happens, the phone key is still in the app. But every time the app resets to the “set up phone key” prompt, I’ll return to the truck and it will have recorded an event. Could the act of sentry recording an event cause some kind of glitch or system error that deletes my phone key? I even reformatted the thumb drive but it didn’t resolve the issue.
Also, the screen keeps going black and the truck restarts. First only a few times over the last month, but today it happened like 4 times in a row. ?

Also wondering, is this because I’m connected through the special lifetime connectivity that I paid the extra $20,000 for? I’m not connected to WiFi. I want to make sure this works solely on the services Tesla provides.

Sign out of the app, completely uninstall it, reboot your CT, then reinstall the app.

Let me know if that fixes it.

We will be out of the country (dates not disclosed) and Blitzen the Beast will be plugged into the wall connector for night charging if needed.

We have backup power should another hurricane blow through, if cable gets shot, again, I have a backup satellite system that Blitzen is programmed to and Tessie is my go to app should the Tesla one tank. Tessie on the web is outstanding and I control the Beast more through Tessie than the stock app. So hopefully no hiccups.

Years of hurricanes teaches one to be prepared but overall, Tessie is a great control backup and I highly recommend it, well worth the money and peace of mind.

Side note: After almost 5 years of waiting we took delivery of Blitzen on July 3rd and only days later we were hit by hurricane Beryl which knocked out power and communications for 6 days but everything above kicked in and we used the Beast exclusively during the blackout because ICE vehicles need gas and when the power is toast, what happens to gas stations, no gas. Cyberbeast to the rescue, we rolled for friends and family when others could not. Blitzen was a star. Apocalypse survived!

Your cloud data may be corrupted. Probably will need a tier 2 or 3 on Tesla's IT team to take a look at this issue. I bet it's one that's exceedingly rare.

I was wondering if maybe there’s a data limit on the connectivity and I’ve exceeded it because the truck never connects to WiFi? Is that possible?

Woodrick, I need to troubleshoot this now for the next time it happens.

“Just STOP worrying about it” —Is that what customer support would say? (If there was such a thing as customer support..)

I’m on this forum to get help from other owners.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a feature they offer to work? We need to be able to rely on the tech.

Has anyone else had this issue?
I had my phone key stopped working twice. It was super frustrating it did it once at my house, and once in my office. Fortunately I do always carry the key card as well in my wallet so I was able to still drive the truck without having to take the time to set up the phone key. As of course times it happened when I was in a hurry. Make sure you document the times that it happened in the date. Service can then look at what the problem was at the time. I didn't do that so when I brought it in for service and hadn't done it in about 3 weeks there was nothing we could do. It has been fine since last updates so hopefully finish crossed I never have it happen again.

Does the key still appear in the vehicle?

While reformatting the USB device shouldn't impact it, completely removing it may. (known issue)

There is something strange going on, it needs to be isolated to the phone or the vehicle. Do you have any other phones that can be setup as a key?

Just to add my datapoint to this thread. Long time Model 3 owner (2018). Cybertruck owner since July.

My phone key issues started about a week ago since returning from oversees trip. Phone key is dropped from Cybertruck when parked. Relatively easy to reproduce at home in my case.
1. Go out to car.
2. Setup phone key in Tesla app. All good.
3. Go back to house. Wait about 5-10 mins.
4. Check app and Tesla app states it need to setup phone key.
5. Goto 1.

Older model 3 is solid. No issues.
Also weirdly I have full access to the Cybertruck via 3-party apps even when phone key is not setup.
Together this make me think this is a bug in the Tesla app.
