When I got my 3, I did the pro/con thing and could not rationally justify the price tag for the performance upgrade. Regretted that decision every day since so I went with the Beast with no regrets. The difference in price isn't really a big deal amortized out over the life of the car. That said... now that my daughter is driving my 3, I'm glad I didn't get the performance version. ;-)

I do not regret the Beast (with $4k installation credit).
We took it to the off road park again yesterday and the dual rear motors scrambled up everything.

However, if I had been going AWD, I might have waited until non-Foundation. It has better range and payload which would pair well with the $16k range extender for towing.
Once you commit to Foundation, you are already adding $20k for earlier delivery and some accessories. At that point, is $20k ($27k if it and you end up qualifing tax credit) for more performance really an issue?

Although this isn't a "fun" response, I would mention that if it was going to wipe out my savings I wouldn't buy either (and I would never buy a car on loan).
Agree on the first part, but for the second, my investments since purchase outearn the interest on the loan.

I went with the AWD after lots of hemming and hawing. I really wish there was a way to try both before pulling the trigger but alas, there wasn’t. I’m more than happy with the AWD but in hindsight, I would have preferred the BEAST. Go big or go home, right? For most people I meet, buying any Cybertruck is going big. I also have a performance M Y and the CT AWD feels sluggish compared to it. If the BEAST is anything like the performance M Y, I would have preferred that. No serious regrets, however. I love my CT more and more every day.

I come from a extended family of American car enthusiasts spanning cars from the Model A to the Grand National.
There are touchstone vehicles that are always held in awe: '71 Hemi 'Cuda, Grand National, 442 W30, among other rare birds. To a certain extent the Tucker also for innovation.

I feel like the CyberBeast is in that category. That's how I reasoned my way into the CB acquisition. I needed my "performance too good to pass up" vehicle.

I have a brand new Beast and a Performance Model Y. The beast feels a lot like the Y except its much much bigger. Its also mind boggling when you hear the tires spinning and realize they are 35 inch tires doing it. The Y feels a little more on rails with less body roll, the Beast feels like a giant shoebox with a V12 in it. Very different feelings, but similar at the same time. Hard to explain.

About half the accelerator pedal distance is all I ever use, so no a beast is not worth it to me. And the loss of the $4000 install credit makes it all that much worse.

Original reservation November 2019 was for the tri-motor, and opted for the dual motor. For a few months I thought about if I had made the right decision. I’m secure with my manhood, so I’m good with the dual motor.

Exactly my mindset. I would rather hold onto my cash and let investments cover my interest

My strategy is to take delivery of a non-FS dual motor and wait 3/4 years (maybe a little longer) until they release the next refresh of the beast.

By then they may even have a quad motor ?

I got the Beast and love it, I didn’t get the plaid when got it, and regretted it. I’ve been on this site for a while now, have yet to see a single regret for getting the beast. I’ve only seen a few regretting not getting the beast, or are planning on getting a second one or sell the AWD and get a Beast.

so…
Regrets:
AWD: greater than zero
CB: zero

I had a Beast on order. I was going to get the $4k installation credit for PowerShare. This was in late April IIRC. I never got back my survey response from Tesla. So I called and they said it’s delayed because there is nobody in my zip code who can install it. The Tesla rep said, I likely won’t be getting it for that reason. The $4k was kind of the tipping point for value. That coupled with Tesla telling me my Beast wouldn’t be ready until Fall, I had to weigh the costs and benefits. It really came down to that light bar and wondering how often am I really going to launch it through its lifetime. Even at 3.8 secs 0-60, you are slapping 99% of the vehicles on the road. I get a lot of pleasure having a Ford Raptor try to race and I spank it like a bad red headed step child (no offense to those with red hair with remarried parents). As you already probably determined, I got the AWD.

Would I have enjoyed the beast? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Not in the least. I actually feel I made the right choice. I get more range which is actually much more important to me than squeezing out 1.2 secs on the 0-60. It put an extra 20k in my pocket. The light bar is even no regret. After seeing that it gets glued to the windshield, that was also a deal breaker for me because in CO, windshields get broken all the time due to rocks on the road during winter. I would guess removing the light bar to replace the windshield is a royal PITA.

No regrets. I look back and think, “Should I have stuck with the beast?”. Not at all. It was the right decision for me and a nice value proposition.
