New Wheel Cover still rubs tire sidewalls -- check your Cybertruck

Man, the truck just looks SOoo much better with them that I’m not even concerned. That wear on the sidewall will not pierce it and you can’t visualize the issue with the covers on. I literally picked mine up and told them I WOULD NOT buy it if they didn’t put covers on mine last week and they miraculously did. That’s just my 2 cents. I think the Cybertruck covers make it look sooo nice. Without them, the truck looks cheap. Sad to think some cheap plastic covers makes the truck looks that much better lol.

That is possible, but both the service center checked them for correct installation and I did as well. They all seemed to have clearance and not be off balance in any way after an inspection by me as well as Tesla, so I am just bringing this up to let others know to check to make sure they don't have hopefully any repeat of what I am seeing.

I 100% agree with you, I really liked them too.

I don't see it, so maybe I can get Tesla too figure out why 4 out of 6 spokes would wear after 575 miles. I don't understand what caused this.

Definitely have them replace the cover. Maybe the tire as well if they’re generous enough to do so… especially after a mere 575 miles! I wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted. Thanks!

I completely agree with you. It's part of the look. It completes the look. I will use OEM tires probably for the truck's life due to the fact it matches with covers even though KO3s are tempting.

Yes installed by Tesla. I would think it could, but why can they do this when they all appeared good when I took them off. I will ask Tesla when I make a service appointment for my loose tailgate strap. I love Tesla vehicles and bought my first in 2013 vin #21...

Anyone have any pictures of the original wheel covers to see how they sit differently? Would be great to see compared to the updated version.

I’ve got 478 miles on mine with all tires filled to 50 PSI. There seems to be plenty of space between the new covers and the tires with no marks on any of the tires yet.

This picture is of the best case scenario. The top of the tire is where there's at least amount of load and the tire will be flexing less. The wear is going to happen at the bottom where the tire is compressed and bulging outwards. I'm not saying that yours touch at the bottom I'm just saying that's where they're most likely to touch.

I’ll try taking a photo tomorrow from the bottom looking up to check the spacing difference where the bottom of tires are more bulged.

I'd vote for store credit of $300.

Don't want or need wheel covers that eat into the sidewalls and waiting on yet another redesign starts to feel a little ridiculous. Maybe staff 2 summer interns this time instead of 1 on the wheel cover design and testing?

Don’t forget that they are ugly. Actually fugly, that fact that anyone would pour these on a $100,000+ vehicle is beyond me.

I bet it’s not installation. It could be air pressure, these things are designed to keep the wind out, air pressure could be pushing them in at high speeds. Do you do a lot of highway driving?
