What do you guys think about losing the "free" streaming service?

As a new Tesla owner I have been in awe of the streaming service that came with the cyber truck. I have an eclectic taste in music and I could only rarely stump the streaming service. Every thing from the Mills Brothers to Warren Zevon. I often found myself in the garage listening to music in the cybertruck. The sound is better than any sound system I have ever owned. With the new FSD update they took it away and replaced it with a subscription service. I have a family of 3 teenagers and a wife who all like music. What do you experienced Tesla families use to stream? Have you found a cost effective service that meets the needs of everyone? Could really use some advice.

Wait, what? If you are a foundation owner, then you get it for life. If they pulled that from you, I would raise hell.

Incorrect. They are now removing the music streaming services on all premium connectivity. So you still get live view sentry mode, traffic, caroke, and other streaming like netflix. But it sucks as I liked tesla's streaming service. Those we get for life... for now

Thats news to me. I still have all the services on my CT. I have premium for life. Do you have a link to that... because that really is crappy if Tesla pulled crap like that. I will sincerely be pissed off.

UPDATE:

Wait wait wait... thats the "free streaming" with no ads, etc. This is NOT true.

This shouldn't affect those who pay for streaming services... whew.

They pulled slacker. I don't see it hitting many other services.

You are correct. I didn't mean to mislead. I really liked the Slacker app. It worked great for me. As a first time Tesla owner I had no idea what it was even called... It just worked great for me.

Hey...I didn't even know Slacker premium was free or I would have used it too! I have Apple Music, so I thought nothing of it.

My son uses Apple music. He likes it a lot, but has a student version so when he uses it it kicks me off and vice versa. The obvious solution is to buy a family pass but I am having some cognitive dissonance going from free to 100 dollars or so a year for music. In the grand scheme of things what's a hundred dollars? It's hard being a cheapskate who drive a 100k car. :)

False.

You can still stream music on a Cybertruck with Premium Connectivity, you just no longer get a free Slacker account. I used Tidal anyway, so no change for me. Tidal has better fidelity (lossless compression and higher bitrate than Slacker) if you subscribe.

Is there an article I can read to really understand what the change is? I have a feeling most of the changes won’t affect me, I use Apple Music and YouTube Premium (includes YouTube music).

edit. I am trying to avoid paying for services I do not need, despite the low cost.

With five of us in the family we're on Spotify Family even though I hate paying for streaming music, TV, etc. when all this used to be "free" (ad-supported) over the airwaves. Finally broke down a year ago after a decade of free Pandora. The free "Tesla Streaming" music app was just ok, stopped using it a long while ago. I don't use Apple Music, but have some streaming available through Amazon Music from my Prime account - rarely use it.

Truth is, there is still a free FM radio if you can find it in the Tesla menus and sub-menus.

The way I have always used it is from the push to talk or voice command button. It’s the default music app when you say play…..song. Works great I will be disappointed when it stops working but I’ve also heard those will foundation it will not effect. We will see.

I use YouTube Music so the new addition for that was great. Included with YouTube Premium which I get anyway.
