Why haven’t we gotten the new horn sound?

Yea, I remember that quote about the software update. That was the X post from the engineer, correct? It would be odd for Tesla to ship out CT's with it, and OG trucks without. But, stranger things have happened.

Tesla has been wrong about this before (really Elon was). Elon said the horn could be moved to the center of the yoke with an update, but it wasn't true and it never happened.

These new trucks are eventually getting the same updates we have and we have different horn sounds.

It doesn't make much sense if it's just a software update.

Tesla has been wrong about this before (really Elon was). Elon said the horn could be moved to the center of the yoke with an update, but it wasn't true and it never happened.

These new trucks are eventually getting the same updates we have and we have different horn sounds.

Absolutely! This was my least favorite thing about my ‘23 model S plaid initially. Adapting to the turn signals not being on stalks was not hard, trying to convince my brain to use that stupid little button on the steering wheel was nearly impossible and extremely unsafe! Mind you, I optioned for the steering wheel instead of the yolk wrongly believing that I would have the normal horn in the center. Not true at the time of my purchase.

However, after my steering wheel developed some issues with the plastic delaminating, I was able to get service to replace it and to my great delight when they replaced it I got one of the newer steering wheels with the horn in the center it’s the greatest thing that ever happened! Up until that point, I didn’t think it was possible and thought I was stuck! I didn’t ask for it and they didn’t even mention that they had done it. So, I don’t know how many people are driving around with those horrible button based horns that don’t know they can have that changed.

You understand;

1. Tesla has done this before with the Model S/X where they were wrong about the software update changing the horn.
2. It doesn't make sense if it's just software that new CTs have a different horn sound on the same software version.

I'm not saying the horn won't come, but those 2 points make it valid to question if it will.

I'd say it's 50/50.

That was just too big of an ask for my brain to rewire decades of muscle memory. I got it wrong 100% of the time especially in potentially dangerous situations. Palm on center, then remember oh fucking hell I’m in this car and I gotta push this stupid little non-button. ?

People here drive horribly and I’m always needing to use my horn to stop somebody from sideswiping me. I remember at the time people making excuses and talking about how they almost never use their horn. No idea where those people live but that’s absurd and this was a very bad idea which I know what they were going for but this isn’t an Italian sports car, no Tesla is!

The horn is already on the steering wheel! You’re not eliminating any additional hardware, you’re just making it harder to do something that’s really important! I’m glad they turned back from that nonsense.

The horn on the DeLorean is an inward push of a stalk. Half the time that I honk in anger I end up activating the wipers

Santa has been waiting for some ASS for a very long time, I can only imagine how nice it would be…especially on Christmas Eve, just think of how much pressure would be relieved for these old bones if I had ASS while up on a rooftop. I would be able to come and go in a wink of an eye…if only…
