In the videos on X it says 4 people were injured, 1 critically. I am a huge fan of Tesla safety, but seeing that truck, there's just no way.

Not at all.

The brakes are far more powerful than needed to activate the anti-locking function, which actually modulates the brakes into only working part-time so the tire won't skid. A more powerful brake would simply be throttled more by the anti-locking feature.

It's the tires that stop the vehicle, not the brakes. The brakes can't do any more than bring the tires to the limits of traction. And they are plenty huge and powerful enough to do that, even on a Cybertruck loaded to the GVWR.

I know I'm repeating myself, but it surprises me how many people don't seem to be able to understand this. So I say it in different ways, hoping people will finally start to understand how braking works.

Exactly. Bigger aftermarket brake will only help with repeated hard braking, like in a race. Helps with dissipating heat and preventing brake fade. At this point you’d need much better tires to stop faster, but they would be so soft they’d only last 1000 miles. Or they might slip on the bead.

Wow. And the CT driver had to use the emergency door release to get out. Where is the battery fire? If no battery fire or deaths the news media won't pick up this story.

in the videos from X you can see there was also a good size tree involved. they must have taken that tree out first, that took out the frontend and sent them spining into the pole that caused the rest of the damage to the rear and fliped them upside down

Not so sure it’s a defect. FSD also disables when you’re towing. Disables when tailgate down because rear camera used to compute distances. Rear camera inop when tailgate down.
