Using it will significantly preserve the newness of your interior. My Model 3 is pristine after 5 years because of this. Heat intrinsically breaks down materials, especially petrol based.

Is your data anecdotal or did you use a control Model 3 without cabin overheat protection on? From the CT’s owners manual: “… This feature is intended for passenger comfort and has no impact on the reliability of your vehicle's components.” If I was going to leave my CT outside unattended for days then I’d consider roof and windshield sunshades.

I left mine for 4 days at 80% and found it at 63%; turned sentry off. Did open the app occasionally. I have the Beast. You will be good.

When you open the Tesla app it will show how long your CT has been sleeping and the current SOC. It should not wake the CT unless you select a function that requires a query of some vehicle status.

Five kW used daily, while parked, adds up over a month's time. Our 2023 Model 3 SOC, if parked and not driven for a month, would drop around 6%. (60kW X .06 = 3.6kW) versus 150kW for the Cybertruck!

I use sunshades as much as possible as well. Plainly stated though, it's common sense chemistry. Heat speeds up material degradation for the vast majority of interior trim.

Compared to earlier software versions phantom drain almost nonexistent on my CT. I always store it in my garage, no sentry, no cabin overheat protection. When I have to leave it for more than a week, I try to get the battery around 65-50%. It’s in the manual. Battery discharge will occur more with the fuller battery. I had to leave for two weeks this summer. Only opened the app upon my return. Didn’t wake it up at all. Only lost 5-6%

Yep, exactly my experience. I accidentally charged it to 100% and also have sentry, cabinet temp, etc off. I remember folks saying 6% a day just sitting. So I let it sit. 2 days later it was 97-98%. I was like “oh shit”… so I took it for a long drive to burn it down to 70%. I was both disappointed and happy with the lower phantom drain. At least I can confidently leave it at the airport.

So far in my experience it is unpredictable. It ranges from 1 mile in 24 hours up to 12. I haven't discovered a pattern. I think Tesla is messing with it sometimes, likely collecting data and installing who-knows-what software. Maybe processing Bitcoin. ?

Make sure that "Cabin Overheat Protection" is turned OFF (not set to even 'No A/C') if you are going to be gone for more than a few days. Along with turning Sentry Mode off as well.

My truck drains a bit and I assume it's because it never sleeps. I don't use cabin overheat protection. I have Sentry set to be disabled at home and at work. The phantom drain seem a little high compared to what people say they normally see with Tesla vehicles (this is my first Tesla and EV). According to Tessie, my truck almost never sleeps. It's slept for a total of 40 minutes over the past 7 days. It usually shows an even smaller value, something like 3 minutes over the last 7 days. It used to sleep much longer earlier in the summer, closer to when I took delivery. I'm not sure if a software update changed something, or if the truck is crunching FSD data or something while it's resting? Anyone else using Tessie and monitoring this? Are your results the same? I tried uninstalling the Tesla & Tessie apps from my phone and watch and waited a day, but the time spent sleeping did not increase. I'm not sure what would be keeping it awake, unless Tessie polling is, but they claim the polling will not wake the vehicle. I'm just waiting and hoping that another software update will get my truck to sleep again.

Well, that explains why ICE cars fall apart so much faster than a Tesla, because they don't have the option of using Cabin Overheat Protection.

While heat does technically speed degradation of various materials, UV rays are the real accelerator. A sunscreen is probably 100 times more important than temperature.

Going on a trip and can’t leave the car plugged in. Silly question but if it’s charged up to 80% before we go, will it be out of charge when we get back? Anything to know or keep in mind?

It will not be “dead” but the level of charge when you return Depends on if you leave Sentry on & the amount of traffic triggering Sentry where you leave it

I believe I had overheat protection on. I now set it at 100 degrees.

I tried COP, but here in TX it was running 15 hours a day between April and Sep
