Whatttt this sucks. I have the same flag magnets. Are these okay or will they eventually cause issues ?

just checked mine- no rust underneath, slight markings, think just dirt….either way will replace with sticker to be safe….

I was using one of my wife’s fiber scrubbers, and it scratched in certain areas. Very fine scratch won’t rub off with rubbing compound. How do I get rid of it? I assume I will have to use my orbital polisher

I have this on my M3, I didn't think it would work on the stainless of the truck. This is what I will be putting on the truck. Once I have FSD on the truck. I am also getting a vinyl wrap, that should help with the corrosion.

I feel like an idiot…
Decided to put advertising magnets on my CT. Happened to take them off to wash the truck after a month and my heart sunk…rust and corrosion.

I was able to clean most of it off with liquid barkeepers friend followed by windex but there are a couple of small white spots left that have a slight rough texture to them. I am planning on using a cordless polisher with barkeepers friend to see if it will just take a little more than elbow grease to polish it off.
Does anyone have any recommendations for removing the rest of these small spots or know what exactly is going on? I like to assume the spots are just superficial corrosion with good SS underneath still…

It's possible that brushing a layer of clear paint or something non corrosive on the back side of magnet might stop the staining? Even a thin layer of plastic could be worth a try.

Thanks for sharing this. I was considering magnets too. Even with a wrap, I’m paranoid now.

I've got a few bugs hanging out on my Cybertruck...

I have these magnets left over from Halloween and they are not leaving any residue or marks on the truck. They stick pretty good but every once in a while one flies off. Oh well, they are cheap enough.

I don't think their backing is metal, more like some kind of plastic.

I have to change these out for Christmas. We'll see how long they last.

I know that I'm supposed to remove and dry off any magnets on my vehicle once they get wet but I rarely do ?
I've had mutiple magnets all over my Cyberbeast since I picked her up in April. I have driven her through monsoon and hailstorm, and moisture get underneath them, but I never have any problem with corrosions. Now, she is double wrapped in vinyl with clear PPF on top corrosion is non issue.?

I've been patiently waiting for the magnetic CybertruckCovers to be released. Hopefully this isn't going to be a problem.
Our magnets are vinyl not metal and are designed to be lifted off at any time. Just like any wrap, I wouldn’t recommend leaving these on permanently and would definitely not recommend placing them on a dirty or dusty truck. You should let your Cybertruck stainless steel breathe from time to time. There have been reported issues with even regular wraps causing permanent blemishes.

We drove about 300 miles through that bomb cyclone yesterday with cold, rainy, gusty weather and at highway speeds up to 80 mph with no problems.

So much for the dream of having colored magnetic panels that are swappable. Best of luck fixing the issue. Thanks for sharing.
Not so fast!

We've been driving with large magnetic test panels on our vehicle for a while in all weather conditions. No corrosion yet. It's important to note that your vehicle's stainless steel surface and the back of the vinyl magnet must be completely clean before you bond anything to the body. Any slight movement of the magnet on the body will cause scuffing and scratches. Those scratches are weaknesses in the stainless steel surface and can produce the right conditions for corrosion to occur.

Having clean bonding surfaces and a magnet that's strong enough to prevent any movement while the truck is in motion should help prevent corrosion and blemishing. You should also remove and clean both the vehicle and the magnet surfaces regularly. Anyone who has used advertising magnet banners on their vehicles are already familiar with these problems and what to do to prevent this from happening.
