Hey everyone, I’ve had my truck for about three weeks now (picked it up in Canada), and I’m dealing with a few issues. First off, there’s this random grinding noise that’s been driving me crazy or almost like blowing over a bottle at 30-60km.

What really stands out is how loud the truck is overall. After a closer look, I noticed some weird things with the seals around the windows—does anyone else’s truck look like this?

There’s also a spot near the windshield where the weatherstrip seems to just stop, and I’m pretty sure it’s causing the door panels to rattle at anything over 30 km/h. Honestly, it sounds like I’m driving through a windstorm.

I took it in for service to address the noise and the wind issue, but they brushed it off, saying it sounds just like their loaner. Not exactly reassuring. Anyone else had similar issues or suggestions?

Yep...I too have a window seal issue with the front windshield. At both sides as well as the top the seal is pulling away from the windshield. I think this is indeed contributing to the increased wind noise experienced at highway speeds. CT service visit is booked for December 16. VIN 43xxx. I have had my CT for just over a week now. Otherwise, the truck is fantastic.

Doors should not raddle at any speed…. Maybe they are misaligned. Is this your first Tesla brand? My MYP is noisier than the CT. MY 3 wasn’t better. I find the CTB comfortable at 70mph.. Yes some wind resistance noise which I am working on sealing, but nothing dramatic.

This is my 5th tesla, i've 3 model s and my wife has a Y. I am very familiar with the noises sounds, etc. took if for service same as everyone- it sounds like the loaner its fine. the wind noise is embarrasingly loud. When i get in my friends its wisper quiet. I'm just stuck on how to get them to actually figure this out- because a demo sounds terrible does'nt mean its within spec. Between the windnoise and that random grinding- bottle blowing at 20-50km I honestly can't stand the truck. I love everything about it except this cabin noise but if it can't be rectified I'm not sure what to do with the truck. Has to be a solution....

Regarding the doors vibrating/rattling its on the highway at about 85mph and above its sounds like wind is getting in though the front and just making a mess

I just picked up my truck a few days ago, VIN 43xxx. I noticed the loud wind noise as well, this is my 4th Tesla so I know generally what noise to expect but this was def louder than the prior ones. It was worse on the passenger side for sure and much worse at highways speeds.

Do you notice when at highway speeds you can feel the inner door panel swell and move a little? If you rest your leg against it you can feel it move. Is that what you mean by doors rattling?

1000% it's the exact same for me - passanger side and the door rattle/vibrate, wind is getting in some where. My neighbour has one (quiet) friend has one (dead quiet). Service center has no clue- going back for a second one. Is yours to the point a passenger is saying WTF

On the vibrating ckeck that one of the wheels might need balancing. I bought an extra set of cyber takeoffs and one wheel had to be rebalanced.

I don't think it's a balance issue IMHO wind is getting in. Even my front seal drops significantly from the passenger side to where the windshield wiper is. if you run your finger it's tight on the passenger side but then you can feel about a 1/2 gap on the other side. I have put in weatherstripping to prop it up - didn't help. I also put 9mm weatherstrip between the glass and sunroof didn't help much either.....

its more wind swirling in the door panel I think

Yep, if it’s the same as mine, you can confirm the wind getting in the door by placing your leg against it while driving on the highway. You’ll feel the inner door panel swell, it doesn’t vibrate, it swells as the wind gets pushed in. Very noticable.

that's exactly it- do you have a noticeable drop from passenger side to drivers on the front seal? if you run your hand across the hood seal can you feel it drop?

If people are saying those side seals are cosmetic - where is the seal for the windshield or is it just the glue?

Watching this thread.. my driver door vibrates against my leg (vibrates the mirror too) and on the passenger side the wind noise is pretty noticeable 40mph up.

Around corners you can feel the cold air coming in.. but this isn’t just a CT thing I have a couple of other non teslas where you can feel the cold air in the winter and warm air in the summer when going round corners.

This brings up a few questions. First of all if a windshield leaks wind, should it not leak water when it rains? As well as wind noise, I too hear wind against my CT windshield at higher speeds especially on windy days but this makes me ask, what is normal? If you're going 70 against a 10 mph wind the angle of the windshield makes that air travel even faster up and over the truck. Seems to me there would be no way one could not hear a wind going over the truck at that speed when the radio is off. Hopefully we'll all get some answers. As a Tesla owner for 7 years my experience is that Tesla is better and faster at fixing issues than any other car manufacturer.

Since the temperature has dropped my back driver's side window is very noisy above 35 like the window is cracked open or door is ajar. The cabin is so loud that I noticed I was turning up the stereo. I also noticed that at my standard car wash water droplets are now found inside the window both sides. As soon as the temperature got above 40, no noise much to my dismay as I drove the master mechanic to hear the noise. I also have always had my driver's door and mirror vibrate at high speeds especially with cross winds. Unfortunately it is going to remain above 40-50 until I pick up my CT and then it drops to 20. The noise is present 95% of the time when 20 degrees. I was able to have a noise free drive after my CT was in the garage for a day and warmed. As soon as I had it sit outside the same drive back was very noisy. He thought they could move the window forward a bit. Fingers are crossed.

I too have noise in both passenger side windows. It’s so loud especially on a phone call it creates noise the other side can hear. I think the seals are not tight enough for sure.
