So per image below, CT has been plugged in for about 24 hours now.. Battery drain seems pretty bad, especially with no sentry mode on..

The snow flake never goes away, even with preconditioning on.. I can literally drive it 50 miles roundtrip to work and back and snowflake is still on.. Granted its 15 degrees outside, but CT is parked in garage at all times. Is this normal? First EV by the way.

There's no battery/Phantom drain in that picture. The blue is battery that can't be used due to cold. It will increase the colder it gets and decrease as the battery is warmed.

The snowflake lasts until the battery is no longer too cold.

In 0 degree weather I've seen it last an entire 3 hour trip.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Do you know if there’s a specific way to warm up the battery before the drive?

Preheat the truck, but depending on the severity of the cold, it may not go away.

All vehicles lose range in the cold, batteries dislkle cold. I don't worry about it. I appreciate that Tesla shows me. They added this in like 2022.

Well my truck sits in a heated garage and snow flake is there so definitely it is a bug.
It's not a bug.

"Additionally, storing the vehicle in a garage and keeping it plugged in can help keep the battery from getting too cold. However, seeing the snowflake on colder days is still normal. Preconditioning the vehicle before use, a feature that preheats the battery and cabin can also mitigate the effects of cold weather on the battery."

That's from Tesla.

It's saying the weather is cold enough to negatively impact battery performance will make the icon appear. Your vehicle is hindered in the cold, all are. It's letting you know.

The heated garage heats the outside, too?

When you drive it in the cold, the batteries/car will be cold. Again, of the snowflake is to show that it may be cold enough to reduce performance.

The snowflake and blue bar are 2 different things and the snowflake doesn't always mean some of your battery isnt usable. Tesla is using whether outside to protect the vehicle....according to them.

The CT is a different vehicle with a different battery. It looks like LFP and 4680 (MY and CT) are more sensitive from reddit.

My only point is that Tesla states a garage or charging won't prevent the snowflake.

Perhaps it's reading the outside temp and adjusting battery power based on that? I don't know, just throwing a dart in the dark here..

You can go to the schedule section and tell it to precondition starting at a specific time or to be ready at a certain time. We have used this a lot during winter xc trips.
