I wouldn't spend it until it's verified that it's not a clerical (or programming) error. Because it sounds like a mistake and the law doesn't hold merchants to this kind of error, even if you've already spent the credits.

Just got the email!! Not only do I have use-as-I-like shop credit, they extended the time to use one year from TODAY!!

No, this is just converting people’s $2500 PowerShare credit that was one-time use to a multiple use gift card.
