There’s literally no context here. Am I supposed to know through osmosis how he got the dent in the first place?

He posted a separate video about it, but it was an unknown impact while parked.

It wasn't actually "totaled" lol

The stainless CT gives new meaning to Paintless dent removal.

PDR is almost like voodoo, more art than science. I have done some and you quickly accumulate a boat load of strange "tools". If you can't pull it out, the next step is to push it out from the other side or even by inserting the tool through the door window slot!

IF you got it done for a Taco Bell (ish) lunch, then that is a score, because now it WILL BUFF OUT!

Whoever made this video was being so irrational it boggles my mind. Specifically, the main thrust of the video is how mad he is at Tesla for advertising the Cybertruck as having a super tough and damage resistant body (when apparently it can be damaged in a supermarket parking lot). But he admits he has no idea how much force it took to damage it.

That is a major logical disconnect. Without knowing how much force it took to dent it, it's illogical in the extreme to criticise Tesla presenting it as much tougher and more damage resistant than legacy products. There is no wiggle room here. Anything can be damaged if enough force is applied to it.

He even theorizes it might have come from a shopping cart impact. But the nature of the scratches on the lower kick panel look like they came from a large, heavy vehicle turning (or backing) into it while hitting the brakes at the last minute (and a second too late). The "moving spiral" scratch pattern looks like what I would expect as the suspension settles at the end of a sudden braking maneuver.

I have limited tolerance for wasting my time on such illogical assigning of blame. And he is blaming Tesla for allegedly over-selling the toughness. Just dumb and misguided thinking. I can attest that my Cybertruck's panels have handled many serious impacts that were at least 10 times as hard as what it takes to cause thousands of dollars damage to a legacy pickup.

In the video depicting the repair of the dent, he says Elon claimed the Cybertruck was "dent-proof". That is just a lie. Elon never indicated it was dent proof, just that it was stronger and harder to damage. Just dumb, he makes up stuff in his own head and then assigns the blame to others.

In the end, a simple suction cup popped it back out to a like-new condition, all of his blame assigning was for naught.

The only thing that is worse than videos like this, is the number of people that watch it and pay the producers.

So the thing about a 3K repair bill is that, they aren't only trying to make it look like it did before.

They also have to make sure nothing else is messed up.

So, yeah.

Skip to 5:05 for the satisfying sound of the SS going popping back to its original shape.

Awesome! I wonder if it stayed deformed because the dent was over the crease, and not because the steel was actually permanently dented. You must have overcome the tension in the crease so it just sprung back.

Everything can dent and scratch,
yes… but this is also your impact structure. As I recall they were able to eliminate the ā€˜conventional inner door beam’ concept because the door skin (and inner skin which makes the section) is effectively the door beam.

is this now effectively claimed as an ā€˜accident’?!
