Hopefully will never test it but looks like it's a reasonable option, small & compact + I have a small breaker bar.

Lifeline Rescue Tool + magnet mount from Amazon. Going to add another magnet mount for flashlight near the same place.

All this time and I never knew the inside of the door had direct steel panel access- I never looked. My only concern would be getting hit from the side and having that causing injury. Very low chance but would not want something sharp there.

The magnets are 3M tape not direct magnet on door steel (at least I dont believe so)...weight rating of 30lbs so pretty damn strong.

Noted, low probability + below arm rest so leg height or lower + It's got a serrated edge but it's recessed there's no knife point aka relatively safe although im sure in a freak situation maybe...

just figured not using the space, quick access if / when needed vs. digging around the center console, etc

I have been looking at those tools. Thought about that same location but also worried about it flying around the truck in an accident. Maybe a couple magnets would make me feel better.

Link for the tool? I guess normal glass breakers won't work??

Yeah, normal lil glass hammer wont work on laminated glass (I dont believe, I'm no expert)! I'm quasi claustrophobic so it makes me feel better being in the steel beast!! Do you really need one, well, that's up to you...I have made it this far without needing one or similar, although I do have the little cheapies in all my vehicles.

I think the tool is a good idea, where you mount it is up to you and your safety concerns...can fit in center console just fine (about 5-6" long), can mount on a molle panel, I could put it in my under seat gun vault, etc - plenty of safe places to store it that dont require car power and wont fly around in an accident. It does come with a sheath that covers the blade part and mounts to molle also.

Was looking for a tool to deal with the laminated glass in a worst case scenario. Outside a sawzaw, I think this is it. Thanks for sharing.

Here is a more cost effective tool that should work equally as well. I like that lifeline tool, but damn, at $200, it’s a bit steep. Then again, I understand the age old questions “how much is your life worth?”. I am just providing a solution for those that don’t want to go $200 in on a tool that hopefully they will never need to use.

I like it, looks like a much cheaper but equivalent solution - good find, you saved $125! :)

Bought one for wife's car! Guessing Audi a bit less robust in the window dept.

Update for those worried about flying objects! I put it in the center console, it fits perfect!
