I will say what everyone is thinking, can you have intimate relations with the Teslabot?

Check your removable side mirror before judging me.
Hey John, that is a very different "use case" that would raise ethical/marital issues .

I love driving, too. But driving with someone is always more fun than without, bot or not. Some driver's aids are less useful than others, but even just TACC and blind spot/cross traffic sensors get you talking to the car and seeing more of the road and less of the dashboard.

Hi John, Zac and Jesse (of Tesla Time News) indicated that the need to have easily removable side mirrors if for doing off-road with your Cybertruck. It is not to break the road laws.

I believe that the Teslabot will need to have some very basic understand of the road if it is to walk around the block. I am not convince yet that I need to spend $10,000 for FSD for the amount of driving I will need to do. I like driving. Just driving to a destination is half the fun.
If you only need FSD occasionally, it might just make more sense financially to use a driving service or eventually flag down a robo-taxi.

At about $5-10/ trip, that’s a lot of trips before you hit $10,000. It does require a bit more planning, but then you don’t have deal with parking either.

Robot companions will be a thing In the future.

John K, we know what you are thinking on this topic…. No need to vocalize it.

Wonder if FSD could take control of the TeslaBot? FSD is in actual control of the vehicle, but TeslaBot is sitting in drivers seat with his hands on the wheel. Looking left and right at intersections, LOOKING like he's driving. No practical reason for this. Just would look cool. Wait, one semi practical use, he could wave cars to go when at a four way stop and you both got there at the same time. Or wave pedestrians the ok to cross in front of you.
Ahhhhh!!!! Please no wavers!!

Just follow the rules of the road!

I get so frustrated with people who try to mess with the rules to be "nice" by waving people to go first. It just causes extra delays and makes the road rage crowd extra raging.
Plus, there are quite a number of times that the "waver" person is stopped and waving at someone who cannot even see them waving because of the darkness or reflections on their windshield.

Wavers just cause extra unpredictability and uncertainty into the already very dangerous task of driving.

I completely agree with you on that when it's people who wave to give up their turn.

But when I know it's their turn, and not sure if they know that, I wave them.

Also, pedestrians have right of way, but, they don't know I know that. I will wave them to let them know I am following the rules and let them cross without running them over.

"Can you"? Of course you CAN. People already have purpose-made bots for this and other alternatives like dolls. Japan has a whole industry for this.

Will a Teslabot let you? Probably depends on how you define intimate. If your version of intimate involves a lot of talking about your day, playing board games, and remembering personal stories/events then I bet Teslabot will be way ahead of anything else at some point. If your version of intimate is something involving more physical exercise, Elon has said that the bot was specifically made so that it could be overpowered by a human. So like it or not, you will be able to do what you want. You might want to keep your thoughts/actions to yourself though as humanoid bots tend to get anthropomorphized. Others may see your actions as being unacceptable and want to stop you from taking such actions.

And given the ability for Tesla vehicles to record everything happening to/around them, do you think the Teslabot will be any less monitored?

Good point of distinction. The other alternative pet peeve I have is with overly timid drivers. Those who may or may not know it is their turn but that don't take their designated turn at the designated time and end up causing grand chaos as everyone loses track of what the next step is supposed to be.

Now for walkers, I totally get their timidity at times. The risk equation is highly slanted when a pedestrian is up against a vehicle. I place almost no blame on a timid pedestrian because they have very good reason to be suspicious of even the most clearly waiting vehicle.

Teslabot absolute minimum will be $2 Million if not 500% more.
This is all wild conjecture but… I don’t think this is remotely close. If it were, Tesla wouldn’t be making it. The TeslaBot is pitched as a machine that somewhat normal people can buy to do routine tasks, not a specialist machine to replace specialist equipment.

I have no idea what the price will be, but it was pretty clear Musk wants to make them by the millions not the 10s of thousands. A $2m price tag would make it a very small market machine.

Nothing about this machine is going to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce. The brain and cameras are the same as on the Model 3. The servos and actuators, hinges, etc… are all affordable for a machine that picks up ~20 pounds or less.

This is either going to cost less than $50k or it will not ship at all. My feeling is this is 5+ years out, maybe more. Even when it ships, it won’t be quite what most people envision. “Run to the store and get groceries” is likely not happening. “Pick that thing up right there and move it over here” is more like it.

It's true that robots are expensive, in great part because of low volumes. The "Moley Kitchen" robot has dual arms, and can cook a large variety of dishes.

All for "only" $350,000 lol. But still, robots are getting cheaper and more sophisticated all the time. Mass-production should drive prices down. Also, Tesla gets to leverage the AI advancements they've already made with their FSD research and Dojo.

Regardless, I expect the Teslabot price to be out of my reach for the foreseeable future.

My guess is about < $15,000 USD. It will all depend on the specs. This is not a 24/7 paint robot with high accuracy/speed and strength at 99.9999% operational reliability.
