Tesla should buy Aptera as the perfect CT companion

I just saw the article about the Aptera getting a yoke like the Tesla. If Tesla were to purchase Aptera, the FSD and yoke would transfer straight across. The Tesla service and distribution network would also be a great synergy.

With Tesla's purchasing power and newfound manufacturing prowess this would be a great marriage. (Well maybe some kind of polygamy marriage of like a fifth wife or something) Tesla would get a super high efficient car which would really help with their mission statement and goals.

Personally I will hate taking my CT on long highway road trip by myself or with my wife without a ton of gear. The Aptera with FSD would be perfect.

We don't know of any, but they've kept Tesla compatibility on the table.

Even if they don't, the fact that they're so efficient could make it charge at over 100 miles an hour on a Destination charger that a Model 3 only gets 44 miles an hour on.

I have shown the Aptera to some of the other engineers here, they admired the efficient engineering, but weren't interested in owning one. For me and my wife its not on the list of possibilities, but its not solidly off either.

If my reservation ever makes it to the UK I will proudly drive it all the the time. Knowing full well I look like a right **** with a single pack of crisps in the center of the truck bed. ? (chips US translation)

Aptera has not gone public but is valued at around $500m. I'm not sure that's the highest and best use for Tesla's capital, but I could see Tesla buying a percentage and cooperating in development, service, charging, and supply chain.

I am very attracted to the Aptera, but I could never get my Partner to agree to ride in it. She has strong prejudices for 4 wheels. As much as I think it is the way of the future I hate to think f the David and goliath impacts.

Show your partner the videos of them failing to destroy the raw prototype bodies from when Aptera was taken over by investors that didn't believe in it. The bodies were just old fiberglass - the new ones will really do much better in crash tests.

I have ordered an Aptera for my local commuter vehicle. Hope it arrives next winter, not years from then.

If Tesla is not prepared to build the model 2 with a steering wheel. This would be a good way to fill that void.

There will always be the need for an ultra efficient car for long distance travel that robotaxi won't be able to fill.

The only downside I see with the Aptera is the 88" width. It will be tight in many parking spaces. The CT is only 79" maybe plus mirrors.

I also like that the Aptera solar is kind of like a bunch of stickers that can be placed over the whole body. I could imagine a solar-enhanced CT with solar all up the frunk hood, on the dash, and over the glass roof.
