I have a trip coming up that is going to put me half way across the country in the mountains, and I simply can't afford a major failure while out there as I would be hours from a Tesla location at a minimum.

I had scheduled a repair at a local service center and had asked if they could do a PCS swap proactively on my Cyberbeast (2024 - 16,000 VIN range), but they refused stating that my VIN was not in any recall section for this repair. As far as I know, there was no official recall. Either way, this request was denied, and they changed the request to "Education" at the service center.

I also have been asking for months since I received my recall notice on the light bar that we do the repair prior to the trip, but Tesla service continues to say they don't have the part. The recall notice indicates that the light bar can fly off, another thing I can't afford to have happen while being that remote.

Any advice here would be appreciated. I did have my Cant Rails replaced at least, but now have to fork out ~$500 to replace the wrap that was on it in those sections. Good times.

Unfortunately they won't do anything unless it fails. Simple as that. Not yet at least. Maybe....MAYBE once the supposed PCS shortage that's going on lightens up?

Side note, I had a service rep mention that they were giving people a $300 credit for the cant rail whether they had a wrap or not. Mine isn't wrapped and he brought it up confidently. Unfortunately it sounded like it is only useable on Tesla services/products.

He also mentioned that I could kick the can down the road for the cant rail replacement as long as I was in warranty, once out... I would have to pay out of pocket.

Take another vehicle
I can't, the only other realistic option I have is a high end sports car (not exotic but close) and there's no way I'm taking it that far out and remote. Comfort would be complete ass compared to the truck too I'm sure you can imagine. I was really looking forward to taking the truck out there, especially for some of the photo/video opportunities.

I did get a credit yes, but as your friend said it's just for Tesla purchases. I could use it for the supercharging along the way, but this PCS situation has me really worried.

Has there been any correlation found on higher risk for dual motor vs Cyberbeast? I'm guessing it really doesn't matter. What about any correlation to supercharger use? I've almost always just stayed hooked up to the house, I almost never supercharge and haven't since I first got the truck in 2024.

Rent a vehicle if you’re that worried? I mean I wouldn’t worry about either thing. You could just as likely have a powertrain issue or another issue. If your lightbar falls off - turn of roof power and cut the cord.

Manufacturers are required to perform safety defect recall corrections for free regardless of warranty status.

PCS failures are much more likely than other powertrain issues though.

This is true, poor wording on my part. More or less meant you could have any issues happen at any time. The Ct is far from problem free.

Just use your truck. Any car could get a flat, a bicycles chain could break, the soles on you shoes could split. Worse case, you have to tow it back. Just don’t loose your phone.
