We can speculate all day long on when SAWD deliveries begin. All we have to go on is the delivery date when we placed our online reservations.

When I placed my 7:03am PST reservation the website stated June for delivery.

I assume a VIN will be assigned by late May/early June if the estimated June delivery is correct.

Patience grasshoppers.

I don't have a lot of faith in the AI scheduler. When I ordered on Feb 25th @ 5:30p, with a Tesla sales agent on the phone, he stated Sept-Oct 2026, which was also on the web site when I ordered.

Now all I get is "2027". Hope it's not 2027 but the silver lining is PCS may be solved by then. :p

Would I take a Premium AWD for $70k, sure but only if it came with FSD transfer and 0% financing. Outside of that, there's not much on the PAWD I'm that interested in other than the under bed storage. In my mind, the $60k SAWD is a safe investment if I want to sell in a few years and upgrade to a PAWD when AI5 is released.

I think Elon said AI5 is not coming to vehicles? on earnings call. "No need" he said.

He didn't say it was never coming to vehicles, he just said it would be a while:
“At some point, I think it will make sense for us to switch to AI5 in the car, but there’s not a pressing issue to do so. At some point the AI4 hardware is going to get so old that it’s like, okay, the only reason they’re keeping the factory open is for AI4...”

So my estimate of "a few years after I get my CT" is probably not far off, say 2030. That's 6 years after HW4 was released, which is a good run for computer hardware. The average and median ownership of all my cars over 40+ years has been 8 years. By the time I'm ready for an upgrade I'm sure they'll be on AI5.

I'd pay the difference if that was offered. I've contemplated upgrading to the Premium, but I only care about the sound system and I'm sure there will be upgrade paths aftermarket.
I changed my order to the Premium. I Initially ordered the base model on the last day of the offer (2/28 I think). My base model delivery date was estimated to be April of 2027. I changed my order from within the app on 3/31 and the new delivery date was '4 to 6 weeks". That date held true. On 4/24/26 my app changed from "In production" to "In route to your delivery location". Yesterday's app message was "Schedule your delivery". The first available date was 4/09 so I took it. That's 5 1/2 weeks.

Congrats. I've been so tempted but not sure my CFO would approve the extra. :O

This was today's AI response to my 2/20 SAWD reservation. I noticed new PAWD orders on the website now say July-August.

Just saw that regarding the PAWD, for the longest time my zip code was 3-6 weeks and today it’s 2-3 mos out. The plus side, I might get my SAWD sooner than I would a PAWD. 🤣

I have one pre-ordered it was very hard to pass up the price. Over the weekend I sat inside a base model Y with the textile seats and the stripped down interior and I did not love it. This had me concerned about the base cyber truck.

I ended up finding a 2025 premium cyber truck with paid for full self driving this morning on CarMax and reserved it. It has a little under 20,000 miles for $76,000. It's definitely a jump in price but for me I think it's worth it. If you haven't sat in a base model Y you should probably do so to get a feel for it. I think the price is a great value but I plan on keeping this truck for at least a couple years so I want to be happy with it day to day. Even if they offer us an upgrade to a premium for $10,000 I don't think I will be all that mad. I really just want auto pilot and I hate subscriptions so paying $99 a month just sucks.

If you're happy, that's all that matters. Make sure fsd in included as some here say fsd cancels if it goes thru dealer hands. the parallel between base Y vs base CT in not accurate.

A base model y is decidedly low rent and rental car feeling. VS premium, it has no seat control buttons, no moon roof, no ambient lighting, different dash materials, cloth doors, many cheap plastic trim pieces, different center console, smaller main display, and on and on.

CT AWD visually is indistinguishable from premium save the textile seats and a missing 9 inch rear video screen. You get the moon roof, the same premium door panels, same ambient lighting, same dash, same center console. And some prefer the cloth pillars because it provides a more uniform look vs the Alcantara grained look. That's purely subjective.

I personally would not touch a used cybertruck with a 10 foot pole because, as evidenced here and elsewhere, some people work the shit out of them and you can't know the history. It feels like a disproportionate number of owners take these things off roading, camping, sand dunes, trails, rock crawling ect.
This 100%. Base Model Y and SAWD CT is like comparing apples to oranges.
And I prefer the textile seats.

Not to mention he spent an additional $16,000 to avoid a $100 subscription…

I'm with you. I have heated and cooled vegan leather in my M3P but cloth/heated in my F150. To me the textile seats look good and as long as I have heated with cloth, I'm fine.

As for my delivery date, still says 2027, up from Sep-Oct 2026 when I ordered on 2/25. Not crazy about it, but not in a rush with the PCS issues. Hopefully fully sorted by then.
