Tesla has just asked me to complete the payment steps to take delivery of my Cybertruck. However, I have requested that they confirm whether the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature will be transferred with the vehicle. If they say no, I will refuse to accept delivery. I will take my $60,000 and invest it in stocks, waiting for another opportunity. I only placed the order because I received an email from them regarding the transfer. If they cannot be trusted, they can keep the $250 deposit I gave them. I hope you all do the same—stand up and protect your rights. After all, they will still have thousands of vehicles to sell to SpaceX.
Please keep us posted on that. I’m probably a good 3-6 months out from taking delivery.

They said No

I looked back at my email from Feb 6 also and no where does it say "Take delivery by March 31st" or "Subject to change without notice".

Pretty crappy of Tesla, and I don't think we have enough lawyers to fight them.

I like your optimism but there is no indication other than rumors that is the case. Elon seems to have turned his back on human driveable, non-fully autonomous (no steering wheel or throttle/brake pedals) vehicles.

I don't want a Cybercab and will always want the option to drive.
I don't agree with that. You've assumed that pushing to be first in autonomy precludes doing anything else. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion myself. What you have framed as rumors are first party, confirmed by Musk and other execs. Priorities can change, but I wouldn't immediately conclude that they will. We'll see.

Right? It says specifically “Order by March 31st” which we did. I’m pretty salty that it looks like the rug pull rumors appear to be coming true.

Yeah, pretty crappy. But it’s Tesla and that’s what they do. Unfortunately they make an amazing product so it’s take it or leave it with them. The only damage you could probably get from them would be that $250 order fee, but then they’ll probably just refund it then.

I saw this notice as well and for a brief couple of hours I was considering cancelling my PDM order and saving the $20K. If i had done that and then Tesla pulled back on the free FSD transfer from my Model Y, I would have been very pissed.

I feel for those of you who got caught in this little shell game Tesla played. Really not cool on any level. This is one of the clearest we F-ed up and need to make this right for those who put money down based upon this published information. Tesla need to take the high road on this one.

If I were on X (I'm not), I'd be posting the shit out of this story to shame the basterds into doing the right hing.

I don't suspect any malicious intent from Tesla for these but this is pure lack of a good marketing and legal team who can thoroughly review these promotions before they launch them. This could just be someone's oversight. They still operate like a start up in many ways. I really feel bad for customers who are impacted. This is 8K worth of a product they will now not get. Tesla should at least accept the mistake and reimburse.

I'm not surprised, there is some fine print in there that says they can change the terms of the FSD Transfer anytime.
That's absolutely true before an order is placed but ... after an order is placed based upon those clearly stated conditions?

I dunno but if I was an attorney (I'm not) I might think about fighting it. I can't see letting Tesla retroactively change their stated conditions after the non-refundable deposit order is placed no matter the amount.
