Failed Wrap. Need advise. 3M 2080 Satin Flip Volcanic Flare Vinyl Wrap

Hi guys,

Last December I went to a reputable wrap shop in Tampa FL (Over 300 5* Google reviews). and got 3M 2080 Satin Flip Volcanic Flare Vinyl Wrap. Please see pictures enclosed to see what it looks like. I do not think it was done properly based on the different tone of color from fenders to doors etc. Am I correct to assume that installation was not done properly? The installer insist that he followed manufacturers (3M) instructions.

That definitely seems off. Some wraps are directional and this looks like the panels were not applied in the same direction.

I have very little wrap experience. I tried to wrap a 2016 MX had a shop attempt and was not happy with results(rainbow chrome)

Had the truck wrapped in magic flame grey ppf from @TWRAPS in Indiana from a one man detail shop.

IMO a color change wrap should be done in one solid piece vs I’m a do the doors and then do the back. Once piece would have ensured your the king of the pirates.

How in the hell do large shops still mess this up... The issue is that the color is directional so it needs to all be applied in the same direction and they clearly didn't do that. they need to fix it or at least I would fix it for free at my shop

Yup, it's a directional wrap and they f*cked it.
Take it back and demand they fix it ASAP.

Ask politely to have the directional wrap redone so everything matches.

That’s a directional wrap. You can tell from the reflective changes based on the various photos. The installer reversed the direction for the outside panels. Needs to be redone. Could also be a 3M error but that is rare. Directional panel installation reversal is not uncommon. Usually installation services know this but you might have gotten Kevin the new guy.

If you paid for this you have learned a valuable lesson. I would go back and give the company a chance for a REDO and hopefully they get it correct. but..... if they refuse to do so..... you must have paid for it. I hope you used a card. Use your card to have the charge disputed for being substandard service performed on your CT. Then I would also contact the manufacturer by sending them pictures and let them know how their product is being used...or abused. I would have never accepted the wrap seeing it like that. It is too flawed to not notice!

The best thing you can do for this forum is to list the name address, and phone number of the shop that took your money to create this abomination.

I don’t even want to know what you paid for this Helen Keller special but it makes me want to cry.

Agree: The wrap is directional and must be oriented the same - it would incur more waste - however this is how it has to be done.

I have mine wrapped in a similar vinyl : color changing directional/ Green/bronze/gold
