I'm one of the rats deserting the Tesla ship for a Rivian. I agree, stop believing the one-sided views here and in other Tesla spaces.
Is my R1T perfect? Nope. Are there things I wish they had, that Tesla does? Yes. Are there things it has that I always wished for in a Tesla? Also yes...
They are pretty strongly needed by Amazon, and overall, I really just don't care. It's gonna be what it will be. Not willing to drive ICE, not willing to keep life on hold by not having a truck. It is what it is.
Also, it blows away the luxury of the M3LR we traded in. It's BMW luxury (and...
I bought an R1T Launch Edition a few days ago and cancelled both CTs. Rivian gave me a 45 minute drive, and then the dealer that had the used LE gave me an option to drive.
Yes, two years ago when this thread was current, there were different options and needs. Nice necropost however. Nearly everyone can still just use the mobile adapter however, with TOU metering and the larger batteries, since that can still do 0-100 under most such plans. I test drove a...
If you travel with women, your stops will be longer than charging takes, in my experience. I used to be a pit stop type driver, then learned that I'm much happier if I stop measuring my penis by how much I can beat the time estimates. Now I just don't care and am relaxed. Except the one drive...
I have a One RS, and have used it, but it's not mounted all the time. Do you have it permanently mounted? Powered? I'd love to see your mount. I used this for a first ride video. I had it up higher when riding. I had it out of the way here to get LED turn signals programmed.
A great point. I typically pack around bikes, but it depends on what is going of course and how many people. But here's an example of me using a rack for a medium bike, and while not ideal, it wasn't totally horrible.
I used a wild amount of energy. Towing with a sedan is not a good...
I've kicked this around as an option. I'm not sure I'd be happy doing 500 miles with it. (Bought the bike in San Diego, towed to Los Angeles, rode, then towed to Phoenix.) I bet that with the windscreen off and the bike wrapped in plastic, it would do little to the Tesla range.
I would...
Meh. The difference between stupid and an adventure is whether you made it.
So there we were, towing a CR500 with a Jeep because it wouldn't start, when it suddenly fired up....
Well, when the car was at 1%, I was thinking about how I could hang the back wheel off the trailer and run a string from the throttle to my window...
There's certainly no reason you couldn't tow the bike and regen charge it.
LOL, yeah, I forgot that.
But unfortunately, it is never possible in Buckeye, and that's a 100% required stop for me going to CA with a trailer. There's no way to make it from Quartzsite to the Glendale charger with a trailer. And Buckeye is always heavily used so I can't park sideways, and...
I just thought of something fun. Long ago, I bought a cheap, small Harbor Freight utility trailer. When assembling it, I found that the bolt heads were metric, as you'd expect, but the nuts required SAE drivers. Overall, it was useful, since then I had more options. "Grab me the 15mm and the...
My plan is to start a Montana LLC to own it and another vehicle. That's $10k in saved taxes for just one. I wonder how that affects delivery. I suppose I really need to factor that into the plans now.
Me too. I always hold the nozzle at arm's length, and let it drip dry. I also find that the recycled electrons that Tesla uses are smelly and kind of off color. I don't like it. I'd think for 35 cents a kilowatt, they could give us brand new electrons.
