So what makes it heavy duty then? Tow rating is the only variable left outstanding.
towing capacity, plus the range to make that towing capability meaningful, is all, in a CT (payload was always identical - but identical at a level that meant payload was already in 3/4 ton range and what it needed to flesh out 3/4 ton capability was towing and range to make it meaningful).

But that towing rating isnā€™t just a singular number pulled out of a hat. To achieve the higher towing rating, you may have to address various mechanical and operational features - cooling, braking, robustness of rear suspension, etc. These are the sorts of things that allows a truck to pass an SAE test for 14K lb vs 11Klb.

Weā€™ll never really know what a ā€˜Tri-Motorā€™ would entail to achieve 3500 payload and 14K towing with 500mi range - because they havenā€™t built that truck.

Presumably, because what it would take, for now, was not a viable product all things considered.

The problem is those of us that often have 7 hour trips, we want them to be 7 hours and not 9:40 as ABRP currentl assumes for CT for a trip I often take. So I think disappointment is the proper word...
Naw.

I'd call it programmed ignorance. You remember how much time it said it was going to take, not how much time it actually took.

That seven hours wasn't all driving. You stopped for gas once or twice, at least five minute diversions each time. You stopped to eat at least once, probably an hour or so. You may have stopped to pee twice more in a normal day's drive. Not to mention any tourism stops!

...Just plug in when you're peeing or eating. It doesn't take more time.

Did you walk to the interstate??
...No, we drove, at speeds from 30-60 mph on a local highway?

It is 69 miles to I-5 from my highschool.

125 miles from my elementary school to I-5.

There were no closer divided freeways. Divided highway makes it about half the way to my high school now, but it hasn't gotten any closer to where I went to elementary school.

I thought you guys were rural truck guys?

The continental US is filthy with interstate highways, I was just amused you managed to escape them.

Iā€™m an urban cowboy. Where I live now, thereā€™s only 2 traffic lights to the nearest on-ramp, and from there I can get across town to the gigafactory without slowing below 80. Not that I can get my truck any sooner lol

Negative ghost rider. I do this trip all the time. I stop once to get gas and pee, 10 min exactly, with 6:50 min of driving. My dad was a truck driver so in the genes I guess.

Yeah, why is it guys say that?

I seriously doubt. I've done it, sure, you get in the zone, but... And you're ignoring your prep fueling for the trip. An EV wouldn't need that stop the day before.

No wonder guys get urinary problems and eating disorders.

Dual or tri-motor?

Climate control settings?

Number of passengers, amount of cargo?

This kind of info is needed to understand the numbers further.

About what I expected though. It's a very heavy vehicle and Tesla ALWAYS over-states range by leveraging their understanding of EPA test.
Watch the video they spell out all of the parameters you mention and more.

If you travel with women, your stops will be longer than charging takes, in my experience. I used to be a pit stop type driver, then learned that I'm much happier if I stop measuring my penis by how much I can beat the time estimates. Now I just don't care and am relaxed. Except the one drive with relatives where a couple just dawdled in the C-store looking at tourist stuff,, for....40 minutes. Sheesh. "Is the car done?" Hell, it's at 100% and we can avoid the next stop!

Anyway, most of my road trip charges have 0-5 minutes of penalty.

I actually like the rubber hub caps, but I would swap out the tires for the all seasons when they are available. I don't have any use for ATs.
I donā€™t have any use for ATā€™s either. Would much prefer the extra range with the all-season tires.
Iā€™m hoping that they are available by the time my FS order gets a delivery date.
Doubt it, but I would rather take delivery with AS tires, and have Tesla keep the AT tires, even if no change in price.
