(Probably not a) GigaPress Inbound (Nov 2021)

UPDATE: Read downthread A bit, this was unlikely to be a GigaPress. Rest of this post is left as original to preserve context. Is it just me or does this new one look bigger than the other ones? That’s a lot of axles. (GP is around the 8:30 mark, I think it’s queued up) How many Gigapresses...

Rumors Growing Over Something Coming on 12/9 (Elon/ Numerology/ Split Rumor)

There’s been a lot of noise lately that Musk is throwing out hints that something big is coming down the pike on the 9th of December. This tweet is sort of the heart of it. Fundamentally… he digs into a bunch of numeric coincidences around Musk’s stock sales and some other comments he’s made...

Soon, the Cybertruck will be the quickest way for some of us to get a Tesla

Looking at a Model S earlier and the config tool gave me an estimated delivery date of March 2023. I might get the CT before then. Kind of weird. A lot of new Teslas are getting delivery dates pretty late in 2022. If the incentives pass, it’s likely calendar year 2022 will be fill up quick.

    Rivian’s Languorous Manufacturing Pace

Can’t make this nonsense up. How can you make a $100 billion truck company’s inability to actually make trucks sound cool? CNET sure tried. CNET posted an article talking about the fact that it’s likely to take Rivian 2 full years to service their 50k order backlog and the way they do it is...

    No Good Diess Goes Unpunished

VWs CEO is under pressure from their ā€˜workers council’ about his EV push and faces a potential ousting. It’s unlikely he actually gets the boot but he is under a lot of pressure for his aggressive stance on pushing the company into the 21st century and electrification...

    F150 Eluminator

I sure wish companies would do trucks like this as more than just concepts. I like this so much better than either the Lightning or the Rivian… the Cybertruck is a different kind of thing. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/02/ford-unveils-a-custom-electric-pickup-ahead-of-f-150-lightning-.html...

    Another blurry Cybertruck photo

This one is shot through a pumpkin instead of a potato. Clearly shows 4Wheel Steering in action. Equally clear is no door handles. Also, this looks like it contradicts the previous tadpole look and micro-frunk.

GM’s Mary Barra Says GM can Catch Tesla by 2025. Problem is…

Just between the capacity at Fremont and Tera Texas ramping up, Tesla is going to have capacity to manufacture between 1.5 and 2 million vehicles/ year and that capacity is online end of 2023. GM told their shareholders recently they aren’t planning on having capacity for more than 20% of their...

How big of a price increase would you tolerate?

Seems like there is a vocal minority who keep piping up about inevitable price increase. Personally I don’t think they are inevitable, but I’ll leave that discussion for the 3-4 other threads that seem consumed by this assumption. More interesting to me is how big an increase would you tolerate...

Patent Images Seem to Match Spy Photos (Maybe old?)

I just came across these images from a patent filing. I’m not sure if they’ve been posted previously, but they seem to match the snubby nose/ mini-van look from the new spy photos. Forgive me if they are old.

Tesla crack 650,000 cars per year run rate at Giga Shanghai

Giga Shanghai produced 56k cars in September. If they continue at that rate they will produce more than 650,000 cars in the next 12 months. And it seems like there is no evidence this is the end of the growth there. https://www.barrons.com/articles/tesla-stock-price-51634032330 Considering how...
