The author of this article should just imagine that an outsider manufacturer (say VW or Hyundai/Kia) simply announces an ICE pickup truck and in one year it garners 1.5M reservations. Does this look like a struggle now?
I just watched a video about BMW i3 production and am wondering what if the rear subframe of the Cybertruck is made of carbon fiber polymer. Guess I'm dreaming but there's a real possibility for the roadster...
I am wondering if it would be possible that Tesla will use a variable-ratio steering in conjunction with the Yoke-style steering wheel, so for a full turn you would have to rotate only 90-120° in each direction and it would still be very fine steering in the neutral position. Did anyone see...
Cybertruck will have structural battery pack with 4680 cells, just because it will be the cheapest form factor to produce and integrate into a new design, every other advantage will just be a bonus.
Same form factor but different chemistries, but I would not call some chemistries crappier than others, like LiFePo batteries have some advantages over NCA.
Cybertruck design is final. Rear underbody to be one piece casting
Tesla Cybertruck engineering is done, first deliveries will happen this year, Musk says

Tesla plans to deliver the first examples of its Cybertruck by...
That is for the regular hot-rolled steel (98% iron content) that is about 3-5 times cheaper than SS.
I don't have the latest data but the price of stainless steel actually decreased since CT reveal through Apr 2020 (due to COVID obviously), I believe it went up again lately.
But I am not...
That doesn't change the fact that Tesla's proprietary stainless steel will have to compete for the supply of same commodities: iron, nickel and chromium
They have more than a million CT reservations. There's no way they already optioned all that stainless steel. So some of the reservation holders will certainly see a price increase.
I will travel to different municipalities and demonstrate my Cybertruck to Police Departments, and then share my Tesla referral code with them. Profit.
If I have stuff that slid deep in the front of the vault, it would be nice if the CT had a mode where it lowers the back (like it did for Cyberquad) and wiggles vibrates the suspension a bit so all my stuff slides to the back for an easy offloading :))))
I believe that's a wrong way to look at it. The incentive is to give advantage in buying EV vs ICE. If someone has 90k to spend on a vehicle why would he choose a 90k BEV vs an equally performant (let's say in total cost of ownership) 89k ICE vehicle?
While we wait for more news, let's try to guess the date of the Cybertruck update release. Hopefully the "in a month or so" happens soon enough! My guess is January 15.
