I realize this is a very competitive space because I see many of the posts from my friends at Urander, Mars and Cybertruckco. I know there are also entries from space campers and maybe a couple other companies.
It must be a really tough niche given how active they all are on here.
They all seem to be honest, hardworking companies and mostly manufacture stuff here in the US which I like.

That said, I’m on the cusp of giving up my pathological loyalty to the cybertent and considering a camper solution.
Probably something with windows rather than molle panels. Would like something I can stand up in and that can sleep my wife and I in a tent at the top while the kids sleep in the vault/bed.
This may be too much to ask, but in the ideal world something that also doesn’t require a small service center to uninstall so I can keep it off the truck at least SOME of the time.
There are many nice looking solutions so I want to make sure I’m doing my due diligence before shelling out a not insignificant amount of money.
Cybertruckco has an awesome camper tour video, Uranders Moab thread for the gen 2 rack looks amazing, the space campers product looks nice and slick too. The Mars AG setup is a little bit different because of the shorter rack but also in the conversation. Then there is the Chinese version. There may also be others I’m not aware of.

For the money, what’s the best option? If cost is no object what’s the best option? Do you have one? Would you buy it again? Would you buy something different? Why?

So, if you are a customer or prospective customer and have a case to state, please do. I want to read about it.

Sponsors are of course also welcome to comment, but obviously objectivity is going to be hard for you to maintain and you likely all have strong opinions about each others businesses.
I genuinely like all of you guys and my intention is not to start a cybertruck camper royal-rumble here. Just to find the right product for me and my use case.
I also know there are many many iterations of this thread so if you want to respond with links, that would also be appreciated.

I raise my hand for Cybertruck Co. All items purchased at same prices anyone else can.

1. First class materials. From stainless bolts to packaging product all is top notch. No carbon steel is used.

2. Well thought out. User friendly and comes from a maker of rooftop tents been in the business of it for a while now.

3. Customer service. Youtube install videos, call backs promptly. I did a DIY install with friends. Needed a bit of help.

4. Made in the USA. I think that is very important. They actually watch the stuff being worked on from paint to bending locally. Not just sending some specs to some foreign land and hope the product they get works, and if it doesn't some fudge the product to make it work.

5. Price. It isn't cheap. Price has come down since I got mine. If something is cheap in price in this world it is usually junk.

6. It works awesome. I am not a roof top tent guy. I love a Durston tent, and can be asleep in minutes on the ground. Yet with this I can be in a bed with a nice blanket in about 35 seconds. So I am learning to like this new world I have entered into.

Thanks @CYBERTRUCKco

I know who to contact first for a Cybertent! Cybertruck Co!
Still love that thing. Just jealous of the extra space and function of the racks

Has anybody here actually bought and installed a spacecampers cap?
Also, what accounts for the big price jump from cap to camper?
In the case of Cybertruckco around $5.5k.
Is it the price of the specialized tent with the opening floor?

Happy Monday! If you want to support hard working Americans, then our first to market Racks/topper/Camper are the only ones made in the USA, the rest are imported from China.

Our new RS2.0 rack systems in 50lbs lighter than our previous MRS version and require less hardware. We reengineered the package for faster assembly and to reduce costs. With the new system we are hopeful with the new 55% Chinese tariffs, we'll be very competitive on pricing and your money will be kept here in the USA.

As far as differences between the Bed Topper and the CyberCamper, they are the same base frame, but the CyberCamper has the add-on Stainless Steel pass through Rooftop tent which allows you to stand up in the bed and create a small camper set up. Ours has 2 opposing seats against the window that can convert to a bench/small bed w/ folding table, slide fridge, running water, battery, etc. Like a micro house.

If we had a local person with a Urander rack we could test and confirm that tent could go on another brand rack.

The next 2 weeks we have a 15% off 4th of July sale, USE COUPON AmericaF#Yeah for 15% off

Email me [email protected] if I can be of any help!

This is what the new RS2.0 rack bed cap topper will look like in Stainless steel, really OEM if you don't have a wrap. this was the prototype with the windows just held in place.

Ha! Roger, I had STRICT instructions from you to not show this pic! Now that you have put this out here I can not wait to get my 2nd edition bed topper. (RS2.0)

I feel like I’ve done my research. I do know that this time next year there will be more options & more companies we have not even heard about with campers & Tents.

I look forward to what else your team has in mind for attachments to this easily installed frame.

HEMIARCH - sorry, I don’t have any experience with the CT tent. But I have purchased other parts from CybertruckCo - service was great and the products are high-quality.

TLDR:

• 4 Side compartments open from both inside and outside
• 8 slidable aluminum crossbars included.
• Made from fully 5052 aluminum which is strong, lightweight, and corrosion resistant
• Free 50 inch light bar with every rack/cap/camper
• Very easy to install with preassembled panels
• Stronger build with 4 total side walls for extra support
• We use nearly 50 percent more material for better durability
• Affordable because we scaled, not because we compromised.
• Installation can take as little as 30 minutes by two of us using power tools
• Optional add-on MOLLE panels for roof sections and rear hatch

Each rack comes with three preassembled side panels on each side, eight slidable top crossbars, and a free wind fairing. Installing it is simple. Just tighten four bolts at each side mounting point and secure the connection points between the side panels. With power tools, the whole setup can be done in about 30 minutes by two of us.

While most racks use a single side wall per side, ours features 4 total side walls. This adds strength, durability, and more mounting flexibility. Instead of cutting material to reduce cost, we increased raw material by nearly 50 percent than Gen 1 Rack. Our lower price comes from production scale, not cutting corners. We've sold hundreds of racks since last year even while operating at a loss, because we are committed to long-term quality and continuous improvement.

Over the past five months, while others focused on bumpers and rock sliders, we concentrated on making our rack even better. We will be releasing our camper very soon. Most importantly, we plan to price it very competitively, even if that means taking a loss at the start.

This is just a passion project for us. We each have our own full-time jobs and have been fortunate to hold some TSLA shares since 2019. As long as things go well with the $TSLA, we’ll keep putting our time and energy into making products we’re proud of and hopefully giving something back to the Tesla community.?

Honestly, they are both very compelling products with valid advantages and being sold by people who seem top shelf.
tough call for a consumer like myself

I love this thread, and the mfr input! I'm going to get a top soon, very soon, so the timing was great! I've got all three contenders websites tabbed so I can look at them every day!

If you get a chance, swing by Xtakeover on 7/26 and see both setups in person. That way you'll know for sure! ;)

[Been working on this for a minute now… For my 4th draft I’ve decided my fellow customer is more important than the company’s feelings. Sorry in advance, Mars]

I bought the Mars adjustable crossbars, Starlink mini mount, and truck bed mounts (for mounting crossbars to the l-track). It’s been absolute hell on earth getting any of it to work, and I’m quite competent with tools.

Their stuff doesn’t remotely line up, unless an insane amount of timing is required that isn’t mentioned anywhere in the instructions. No torque specs. They don’t label their hardware.

I intended to also buy their rack, tent, lightbar, wind deflector, the whole 9, but this first purchase seriously killed all the plans I had and forced me another direction. Glad it was $1K and not the $8-10K I was going to spend.

If Mars sees this, no, I’m not asking for a refund and I don’t feel like dealing with returning or exchanging the garbage you sent for different garbage. I don’t want to bash your company, but I also don’t want any other owner dealing with the headache I’m dealing with.

I’ll say this for them, their customer service is top notch and they work super late at night. Tesla should take notes.

I’m sticking with OEM all the way from here on out. Some of their stuff isn’t as functional as aftermarket products appear to be, but I have a LOT of OEM stuff and so far all of it actually works as intended, effortlessly.

I know there’s happy Mars customers out there (@dalton108, but even he damaged his cantrail installing his rack, likely because their stuff doesn’t line up), and I hope they chime in to give Mars a fair shake and so you can make an educated decision. All I can provide you with is my experience, and it’s been enough for me to know Mars will never get another cent of my money.

CyberTent instead of Aeroblade inbound… no rack… sad day.

Thank you for your integrity in giving advice. That’s hard to do when you’re dealing with people you actually like and are clearly busting butt. Certainly could be isolated but you’re actually not the first fellow customer I have heard that from.
