I am confused. Your entire comment is boldly bitter. Exactly what did you say that wasn’t bitter? Are you incorrect? No. But let’s call it what it is: bitter.
It’s a little more nuanced than that. The part that’s not bitter is that I’m genuinely happy for others that are getting FSD for free and also in some ways for the rest of us because as people have eloquently stated, the larger the user volume the better the system gets.
I’m also overall proud of what Tesla has accomplished and I’m still a supporter. LOVE my truck and don’t regret buying it even at the inflated price.
Personally, I would have handled the relationship with the early adopters differently than they did though.
If you just look at the surrounding posts here you’ll recognize that many have some sort of explanation of how “it could be worse” or “this is just what it’s like” because they too have been burned by Tesla in in some way in the process of buying.
I don’t think that’s the ideal user experience for supporters and the part I’m bitter about is that this doesn’t seem to be a priority for Tesla. Never has been. It’s not an accident or one off occurrence.

Welcome to Tesla world.... it is frustrating as hell. What would be nice? Maybe a free mini Starlink to all FSCT people...?? I missed the 4k credit by days with my Beast - now 2.5k to use for "stuff" or spend another $2500 and get the system installed by a authorized electrical company...for a job that isn't that difficult (in my situation) - I love my truck. I finally got the email and an appointment to install the light bar next week....my delivery was at the end of July 2024 -

I think with minimal effort from Tesla it wouldn’t necessarily have to be that frustrating. I wish they considered the entirety of the user experience a little more.

Buying a Tesla is a bit like a US Treasury bond auction where they use "dutch auction" rules:
1746632837675-vo.jpg

They start with a high price, and slowly lower it, until you are willing to buy. The risk is you may not find yourself with a vehicle at the end, as others are willing to buy before you.

I know, I know, they'll make more. You can see it happening with 2024 CTs where people are waiting for incentives to increase before they buy. The risk is other people buying and the inventory being sold off, before you are willing to buy.
I can see that. We have owned Teslas since the very earliest ones and that’s always been the case.
Somehow the incentives tend to be more personal feeling than just changes in price.
I suppose that’s why they are effective demand levers.

This is awesome and why I love Tesla and Elon!! Some of the best innovation, who needs AP when you can have FSD for a year!! Brilliant!!

Everyone still on the fence should be running to Teslas website to pick up the Best Truck in the World!!!

Hopefully they take away heated/ventilated seats also so I can get a 1 year trial and then subscribe to use those features!!

Exactly. We are repeatedly being f$&ked.
I don’t mean to sound bitter. I’m happy everyone is going to get to try FSD because it’s truly amazing.
I’m just still salty about them offering free supercharging months after I bought my truck and still not providing support for PowerShare with my powerwall 3 system.
I’ve spent more money with Tesla than most and feel like I’m always at the back of the line.
Not good news... They are not delivering on their promise of auto pilot... And giving us 1 year of FSD... But we bought out cybertruck with auto pilot included and now they are not going to deliver on their promise... Once that year is over we would not even have the basic auto pilot. We need to fight this and they need to deliver on auto pilot or else we would be forced to subscribe to FSD is we want any cruise control and lane assist features.

Thing is, that’s old tech. We see the future and FSD is the future. You don’t need like you don’t need stalks or shifters.

Fair point. I do think those people who purchased without FSD deserve what they were promised. For the rest of us I don’t know that it really matters. I’m not sure that I’ve seen any amount of “fighting this” work on the Tesla decision making process before though. So unfortunately it’s probably a bit of a Don Quixote quest.

What do you mean by “nowhere near where it needs to be”? I have a CT and a Model Y (HW3) and feature-2-feature comparisons show them very close to equivalent. Granted the CT is lagging behind other HW4 vehicles but FSD on the CT is SO much better than it used to be.
A FSD participant and beta tester for several years. FSD has been "about a year away from being unsupervised" for about the last 4 years and with this being the latest and most expensive vehicle having FSD HIGHLY supervised, no ASS, etc seems like it is behind to me.

I agree with FSD not close to where it needs to be. I drive my CT on FSD a lot. Potholes, no matter size is completely ignored. Sharp turns on sidewalks that can damage rims and tires. Parking sideways after destination is completed... there are many concerns that need to be addressed. In the meantime let me enjoy FSD for free for another year?.
Potholes, road debris, wood pallets, etc. CT happy to hammer over all of them.

FSD is nice on long highway stretches, but still needs supervised.

Bought the model Y in March and loved FSD so much that we pulled the trigger on the Cybertruck and took delivery at the end of April. The day it was delivered I spent 8k for FSD. Two days later I submitted for a full refund because the FSD in the CT was shaky at best. I was offered the free year of FSD and signed up, however, I have every intention of paying 8K as soon as FSD improves on CT and we start to see full autonomy over the next couple of months in TX and CA. Non-supervised driving will change our lives and there's no way IMO that Tesla will continue to offer it for this cheap. I doubt Tesla will give any warning that prices are about to increase, so the early adopters who paid full price up front will have a reason to cheer that they made the right decision If FSD is the same price or even cheaper a couple of years down the road, I won't be bitter. The value to me is much higher as nobody else can or will do what Elon has achieved because they simply don't have the data. Elon is going to continue to get the data to keep pushing forward, that's all that's going on with this one year subscription.

Agree with fsd is the future but it going to cost 8K that some people didn't want to spend.

Some others, like myself just wanted autopilot. If the one free year is just a stopgap for when autopilot will be release great! If autopilot is complete removed then it would be almost unfair to the buyers.
