2024.26.7 Update Installing

I’m still back on 2024.20.200.

is there any way to force an update?

Hi Killlbox, you can't "force" an update. But you can make sure you go to the software tab and set updates to Advanced instead of Standard. This tells Tesla update servers that you want your car/truck to get an update as soon as they deem available. I'm guessing you already did this, but some people don't know about it.

To the rest of you that are "refusing to update"; I can't tell if this is a joke that I'm not getting, but you are literally preventing Tesla from providing a better performing vehicle at worst and preventing them from providing critical safety updates at best.

I went ahead and downloaded it. I'm not worried about this update branch preventing me from getting FSD right away and who knows how long that will be. I'm wondering whether I'll get the wheel covers or FSD first....

Hi Coltpete, you will have an easier time getting the FSD update, if you are on the latest update. I've been testing FSD since 10.3 (which ever patch was the Safety Score patch) back on November of 2021. Latest version is always best!

As an interesting (perhaps) side note; in the past, if you were an FSD Tester, sometimes you got the regular updates LATER than the rest of the fleet. If Tesla added a new game, the FSD fleet would be getting it months after the rest of the non-FSD fleet. One example was the Turn Signal video auto-popup, feature that many cars have by default these days. Tesla took forever to merge that update into the FSD branch.

If memory serves from my MS, if you go in for service they CAN force and update if you are not on the current firmware/software.

Anyone driving a Tesla is somewhat non conformist but nothing is gained by not allowing an update. As others have said, you can take yourself out of the update loop if you skip updates. Plus you deprive yourself of safety and bug fixes.

The new policy is that the SC can no longer do this if it's on a currently supported firmware. So that typically means if you are stuck on 2022 firmware, they could, but not on new firmware.

It would be nice if Tesla indicated whether we would get FSD quicker with or without updating to 26.7. At the service center I was told that it might be better to set it to Advanced without updating since FSD is not merged yet. But even they don't know.

I picked my truck up from the SC and there is a software update waiting 2024.26.7, I am meh about "Will I miss if I.....".

I am installing it now!

doesn't anyone like to drive anymore? Does winding a watch irritate you? Does having to (OMG) turn on your own wipers end your day? golly gee. It will get here soon but I would rather have it work perfectly than not.

I like driving, I've been driving my whole life since I was legal to drive. But it's really nice to be able to push a button when you want and have it take over driving duties. Sometimes it's only for a minute, sometimes I'll leave it active for over an hour (because any pleasure realized from driving on most Interstates is purely coincidental).

But, yes, I'm patient and want it to be ready for prime time, I just really miss that ability to choose. That said, if I missed it enough, I would drive my Performance Model 3 with 32K miles on the clock. But driving the Cybertruck wins out over the Model 3. By quite a bit. And I love my Performance Model 3! That's how good the Cybertruck is. Tire costs be damned!

I would agree with that statement if it was limited to Cybertruck owners, but the Tesla Model Y is the best-selling car in the world. That's an awful lot of "non-conformists"!

I like driving too, but the use case for FSD is when you need to drive with your knee and the squircle doesnt allow it! . Also loved my M3P with 25k miles on it but sold it yesterday to a friend, wasn't going to get used often enough to pay rego /insurance and take up garage space, etc....but still sad to see it go and value at this time is ****!
