I’m sorry, that’s ridiculous. Every buyer makes a decision for themselves: do I want to purchase a product at whatever price it’s currently available. If you could afford to purchase without the tax credit, and you wanted the CT, you bought it. If not, you didn’t. Products always get better over time, and incentives change constantly. I absolutely love my CT, it’s legitimately the best vehicle I’ve ever driven. I made an informed decision to purchase it at the price point at which I did, and I’ve got zero regrets or complaints. Frankly, I’m pleased that the rebate now applies, because as a Tesla shareholder I imagine it will help them move more volume and make the trucks more accessible to those who might otherwise not be able to afford them.
The point is that we asked and could not get an answer. So we could not make an informed decision. Because I had to pay 80000 I can not afford the 8000 self driving that I had been saving for. What is ridiculous is Tesla being deceptive and helping loyal customers at no cost to them.

Where is Tesla being deceptive?

If you chose at that price point, it's the price point that was right for them.

I still haven't decided, because clearly the point is not right for me.

Right now, we can't buy a truck, so my savings are sitting there - even if Tesla said I could order a RWD tomorrow with the discount. Because the time isn't right; our finances are not secure and we might need that investment elsewhere.

That doesn't mean Tesla might not choose a price later that's even better than the one I'll choose at! They could totally give a sale a month after I chose and yeah, too bad for me, but I'd have the truck.

There's nothing deceptive about this. Frustrating? Sure! But deceptive? No.

Cybertruck RWD is now listed as eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. It is expected to be released in 2025. If factoring in the tax credit it will start at $53,490

I think the IRS page maybe updated for the Single Motor coming this year when composition satisfied the criteria. Maybe then the AWD too. Not immediately. I just can’t see any changes from last week. So until Tesla officially updates its pages, still speculation.

That's not how weight affects towing. It's nearly all from aerodynamic drag.

I provided some of my numbers earlier, here is a summary:

1) empty CT dual motor - 360Wh/mi
2) with empty tilt bed trailer (3600lb) - 580Wh/mi
3) with a 800lb low profile (structural steel) load - 610Wh/mi

Feel free to share YOUR numbers when you tow a mini excavator or something.

Well, the trucks it's delivering would need to be 2025 vins and their site does not guarantee that yet.

So it's official, just not quite available yet. They wait to clear out existing inventory first.

I don’t know many people who buy 2WD trucks. Not saying it won’t sell, but I doubt it will be a large share of them.
If a locking differential is an option on the RWD version it will sell quite well.

A rear axle with a locking differential will get a vehicle through most situations.

Yeah it appears to be deceptive. I waited and would have benefited from that $7500 tax credit.

Today would have been the perfect day to place an order if the information was available.

I had to make a stretched decision late Oct/early Nov, since other incentives like the No NJ sales tax, and possible income limitation on my next tax filing, were closing out on me and with the $7500 Info unclear.

I understand that business is not always ethical.

I agree. Tesla wants to blow out remaining 2024 inventory before posting a $7500 tax incentive on 2025 models. They still haven't cleared out remaining 2024 FS inventory yet.

Your own numbers say the RWD should go 150 miles with your heavy load; with Out Of Spec's max load of 1.3kWh per mile, the RWD should go 70 miles.

But you wouldn't buy the cheapest truck to move the biggest object. Your objection is silly.

There's nothing unethical or deceptive about this. What is deceptive about selling your trucks you have before selling the other trucks? You knew when you bought they had not completed the paperwork and that the trucks they were selling were not qualified because of that.

My numbers don't say such a thing. I said I haven't even tried a heavy load yet, and provided data for a moderate load of 4400lb which resulted in nearly 2x energy use, meaning for an actual heavy load the energy use would be even higher. You made the claim that weight is not important, and I highlighted that in my case the load was a low profile one, but the weight makes a noticeable difference without much change in aerodynamics.

Now you're quoting the number of 1300Wh/mi and that's like 3.6 times the number I get while empty! And while I see how you came up with 70 miles for RWD, that's a more than optimistic number because like I said earlier even the empty 250mi range estimate is in part due to overall higher efficiency of RWD model with its significantly lower overall weight.

But you wouldn't buy the cheapest truck to move the biggest object. Your objection is silly.

You're inventing your own meaning. My suggestion was that RWD model doesn't have the specs to be popular on the construction contractor market because it can't tow equipment sufficiently far. In fact it's not even rated to tow any equipment - at 7500lb the usable payload won't exceed ~5000lb once you account for the trailer. Shifting the goal post to say "yeah, but AWD can do it" doesn't negate the issue of the RWD being unsuitable for that segment.

I mean even after that. It would coincide with the RWD release which is likely Q2 or later.

...Whatever. You don't want to do math and research, then your opinion is just going to be spam.

It'll be whenever that do two things:
  1. Finish the web page
  2. Finish selling the 2024 trucks
Tesla may be enigmatic to some, but their basic behavior is mechanistic. Finish (A) before (B). Og don't know when (A) finish until (A) done.

Does the $7500 still work for a lease even if your income is above the requirements?

Also, on the configure page, it says $7500 lease incentive for Cyberbeast. Is this an error?

The tax credit can be applied to the lease as well, but the manufacturer keeps it.
