Hi, I am really feeling that FOMO regarding the Cybertruck.

I am tempted to take delivery now , using a referral code for 2k off, + 3 months of free supercharging and FSD. I also know that as per the latest vins on this site they are still delivering MY 2024 Trucks. Does Tesla historically switch to MY 2025 before fiscal year 2025 starts?

Also is there any update on the tax credit? I would have to be the guy that could have saved 7500 off the truck by waiting like another 2 months.

Anyone think Tesla is on the verge of making the CT eligible for the tax credit?

Thanks for your opinions.

They are usually very tight lipped about tax incentives until they can publish them live on the website, since it would scare people off from purchasing. The truth is, no-one really knows about the tax credit.

Judging by past Tesla end of the year promotions, I think you will see one more promotion before the end of the year. It could be lower financing or something additional with purchase. I’d wait a few more weeks and see what the December promotion is. My gut is also saying that the price will drop to $69420 sometime in Q1/Q2. The difference in price between what they said a rear wheel will be and AWD is too much of a gap, their current cars don’t have that much of a gap. I think it was priced at $79k because they thought they would have the tax credit. Once they maximized the amount of buyers at that price, they will drop it down to where it should be without the tax credit.

If you can afford it go get it now!
who cares if it’s a 24 or 25 it’s the same truck and anyone with a brain that buys used won’t get caught up in the year number and more pay attention to miles and condition. The tax credit thing has been beaten to death no one knows and everything you hear is a complete guess till it comes from Tesla them selfs
As well as the hope
The price drops or a different model
Comes out! People going to come in saying “well my cat told me demand is lowering “ bluh bluh. Till they are making the decision or it’s official from Tesla again it’s there guessing opinion and if it was reality WE ALL WOULD Have WAITED! I’m still waiting for the 911 to drop to 50k and it’s been 20 years .Just do what you can financially do with out stressing you out , if that’s getting it now then go for it .
I originally ordered a rear wheel drive for what 70k ? I ended up getting an all wheel FS paying what 30k more ? O well never looked back moneys gone and I love my truck and it’s in my driveway now!

I would never purchase a 2024 model with only 4 weeks left in the year.

Enjoy the holidays and wait until 2025 to place your order.
Are you planning to flip it in 3 years? Let's say hypothetically that on Monday they'll start badging the vehicles coming off the line as "2025s". The trucks built on Monday will be identical to the ones produced yesterday. Meanwhile, if you live in an Excise Tax state, you'd save $1500 over 5 years buying a 2024 vs a 2025. I'm sure insurance will be a bit less as well. Anyone buying a resale Cybertruck who is familiar with Tesla will look at condition, mileage, and specs, regardless of whether a truck is listed as a "2024" or "2025." They're the same thing.

How do you figure a $1,500 saving? Are you factoring any personal property? In Missouri if I bought it in 2024 I would have to pay personal property tax on it in 2025 since I owned it Jan 1, which could be close to $3-4k... this is separate then sales tax or excise tax.

From what I know about the IRS tax credit, if you buy it January 1 for instance and then it qualifies later in february, there is a chance that you won't qualify if changes have been made to the battery component itself.

I personally will wait until January, or sometime next year for a $10k price reduction on with lower interest rates.

Off wall question in future purchase.

???‍?️??

Has any owners of the CT have the dirty sock smell develop in their HVAC system or has that ongoing known issue been corrected?

Had a Model 3 and has to change filter cabin filter every six months and spray anti microbial foam down the vents every six months.

Read an article, “probably fake news” of lady taking in her Tesla for same reason only to find black mold all through the vehicle.

Just wanted to know if this is happening with CT, and something we just have to live with.

Thanks.

P.S. my prospect!

Our sales tax is 6.25%. But Taxachusetts also has Excise Tax on your vehicles. Not to get too far into the weeds, but each calendar year it is based on a part of 2.5% of the list price of your vehicle.
So, for argument's sake, let's say the list price is $80k. (My MSRP was $79,990 before the referral bonus). 2.5% of that is $2000. Here is the breakdown per year in MA (and I believe most Excise Tax states): Year 1- 90%, Year 2- 60%, Year 3- 40%, Year 4- 25%, and Years 5 and on- 10%. They also consider Year 0-If you bought a model year in the previous calendar year (buying a 2025 vehicle in 2024). The year you purchase is prorated by how many months you owned the vehicle. (If you bought on Nov 30, you'd pay 2/12 of that amount, as you had the vehicle in Nov and Dec of that year. I bought in December, so my 2024 Excise Tax will be for one month).
Because the year you bought is a partial year, but the following year is a full excise year, buying a current year model vehicle works in your favor vs buying next year's model. In 2025, I should pay $1200 in Excise Tax, since that will be Year 2 and 60% of $2000 is $1200. Someone who buys a theoretical 2025 in 2024 will be in Excise Year 1 in 2025 and will pay $1800 in Excise Tax in '25.
I've attached a file that shows MA Excise Taxes buying a 2024 AWD in December 2024 vs buying a 2025 AWD in December 2024. I hope this little spreadsheet clarifies it, but feel free to ask questions if I did not explain it well.

That was very helpful, thank you. Every state is certainly different the way they calculate taxes. In Missouri they look at the Blue Book value of your car in fall of that calendar year, then apply a fixed tax rate on that.

I love how you called it Taxachusetts, I feel the same about my state. All states are the more or less the same in the end IMO.

how I am feeling right now: $2k referral + supercharging + fsd was a good deal without the tax credit. my trade in dropped 5k (- tax on trading in) in ~2 months. now i wont be trading in with tesla and my value is a little less with carvana and no tax incentive on trading in.
