What I wish Tesla would do would be the ship those trucks that don't qualify to countries in which the components /material is irrelevant and have no such thing as IRS EV credits.

Tesla Cybertruck 2025 Cybertruck now listed as eligible for $7500 federal tax credit IMG_3541

probably 100 or so CT here in central florida at a storage lot. there is always a lot here, not sure if they're the same ones over several months.

i think it may be awhile before we actually see qualified trucks. or drop the price to get through inventory…we're hungry for the tax credit.

It’s good to know that IRS lists the CB as being eligible, but don’t see anything at Tesla site! Did anyone actually get the deduction at the time of purchase?
CB meaning Cyberbeast is not eligible (over MSRP limit)
AWD and RWD are under that cap.

I'm sure they'll eventually move, although demand may be soft (not stagnant), not everyone is eligible for the $7500 and many buyers likely exceed those income levels and would not care about "qualifying" vehicles.

Tesla curtailed production for about a week at the end of the year. In yesterday's Joe T drone video, they're pushing out tons of CTs and Model Ys again. (stacking up in the transport lot as well as leaving the main factory in clusters every 5 minutes or so). I suspect that they think/hope they have a manageable remaining 2024 inventory that they can probably utilize for leases or other non-tax credit cases, and the newly produced vehicles will be eligible and will spread across the country over the next week or so. Just a little more patience.

Prediction: Trump rescinds the credit in February. Elon lower price somewhat in March. For those who don’t qualify this will be welcomed.
This is not a thing he can do. The President cannot just cancel things Congress has done or does, unless they specify the administration can.

No need to get political about it, either.

I have a strong suspicion that the 4680 battery cells are now being manufactured without Chinese sourced materials and therefore 2025 Cybertruck's now qualify for the $7500 tax credit.

That’s exactly what they are trying to do. They matched me up with a Cybertruck model year 2025 but later tell me it doesn’t qualify. That I should complete the order/delivery process and then request a “long term hold”.
What's a long term hold? I'm in the same boat. They assigned a 2025 VIN to me that doesn't qualify for the tax credit, yet it's for a base AWD with an MSRP just under the $80k limit.

I have a strong suspicion that in-house dry cathode 4680 battery cells are now being manufactured and installed in the 2025 Cybertruck's, hence now qualifying for the $7500 tax credit.
This would explain why they're pushing to get rid of 2025 inventory that doesn't qualify before they open the floodgates.

The federal EV credit is now available at the dealers, can be applied as down payment - no income requirement or tax burden limited. Only limited by MSRP of vehicle + content requirements.

The only problem with this approach is, if it takes months to clear - the new government may revoke future EV rebates ?

Yeah, usually they'd have made some number of the prior year that also had the sourcing fixed but this time it looks like the remainder fell on the other side of the line, leaving them with inventory.

It'll make their numbers looks better later when they shed the inventory.

I'm not sure if they're allowed to do sell you a 2025 that specifically doesn't qualify when the IRS says it does... but they're definitely allowed to not tell you if it qualifies or not so as to make you more likely to treat the trucks that don't qualify, the same.

There is an income limit for the 30D Clean Vehicle Credit.

Damn. That’s a lot of CT inventory.

I count 12 rows that are 4 deep in the photo. That’s at least 48 Cybertruck’s.
