We need this!

I've tried half a dozen qi2 charging mats in hopes of finding one that fits in the space but no luck. If you ever sell this I would definitely be interested in one.

Extremely happy with this solution and the latest version of the pads I’m now using have ambient lighting.
The original MagSafe pads I used worked very well for me. However, I upgraded to iPhone 17 Pro Max on Friday and they were no longer appropriate, with the full width camera bump-out.

I have thought about it a lot and decided to just post the STL file on Makerworld once I have finalized the design. You can use this for your personal use only. No payment would be necessary, but you could buy me a cup of coffee (I’ll give my Venmo).

But if anyone wanted me to print them a copy, I’d charge $20 plus what ever USPS priority boxes cost - last I saw about $12. I’ll link exactly what products I used to make it. It is not difficult.

Lastly, if anyone wanted the entire thing put together, I’d ask for $75 plus the $12 for shipping.
No one is getting rich here, but it does take time and a bit of effort ! Is this reasonable?

I have been wanting to make this for over a year. It sits atop the virtually useless OEM charger (at least for my iPhones).

I tried using it with the silicon cover but the magnet barely sticks. Still in prototype form, but it works!
This does look very promising. And may work for some phones, however phones that have a camera bump out like most of the iPhones out there will have issues because they won’t be able to lay flat on the magnet surface. Probably two ways to correct this. One would be to decrease the spacing between the top edge and the magnet.
To work with my iPhone 17 Pro Max, it would have to be around 1/8”-3/16” with the case I have on it. The other way around it is to raise the magnet. (a better more universal option.) and the magnet has to be high enough from the bottom in order for iPhone Max to fit in it so it may require you lengthening the bottom portion as well.

There are many MagSafecharging pads on Amazon that accommodate the camera bump out with a raised magnet
This is the one I’m using… (link in previous post of mine in this thread)

Unfortunately it will still get hot. Vent clip on with fan MagSafe is best. Charge all day stay cool.
I don't understand this fixation on charging phones in your car. Don't the batteries in an iPhone go all day (I've never had one)? Why would you want to charge all day?

I rarely put my Android phone on the Cybertruck's wireless charger unless I'm on a road trip or I didn't have time to charge my phone in the morning (I generally charge it when I wake up). I leave my phone in my pocket 95% of the time when I'm driving. It's 7 or so years old and still goes all day. If I'm on a road trip I charge in the car for an hour or so as I'm driving so I don't have to plug it in when I get to my room.

I actually have a great MagSafe charger which is attached to the screen (which now swivels!).
your point is understood about charging but for me a lot of my quest involved just getting something to work as it should. I could not charge using the existing charger very well so I wanted to fix it. Along these same lines, replacing the OEM mirror with a digital mirror is certainly unnecessary but it is one of the best things ever for me. I look up to where the mirror should be and there it is -a great view of what’s behind me!
And the screen should swivel and tilt and now mine does. It’s not for everyone but I thoroughly enjoy it.
I like my CT more and more with these little changes!

If you're using Waze, and/or streaming, then you'll lose 5-10% of charge every hour. I've more or less weened myself off Waze and just use the Tesla nav, but still miss the cop warnings and the 'creativity' that Waze has. I don't think it's a fixation, but if the manufacturer puts a charger in the car, then it's not unreasonable to expect it to work. That said, very few do, Rivian has a shockingly over-engineered chargers that's more hopeless than the Cybertruck's.

I’d have to get a sample of the charging unit for measurement and trials. It looks like it would stick out quite a bit too ( so it would not be flat). But yeah I probably could make something.
The cooling unit on this charger is excellent in the Texas heat. It has been fit issue while using it with it just plugged in while traveling.
A simple solution would be nice to have.

Update: I’ve tinkered with the design and have been using it for a week or so I’ve decided that the native look off the printer, without painting it, will likely be best. Nice textured look without the chance of the paint getting marred. I’ve moved the chargers up a bit so that the phones can lie flat without interference from the phone’s camera cluster.
The chargers charge as expected and the phones do not get hot as before. They do get warm - as expected.
As I mentioned, I already have a charger mounted on the center screen - but I do like the phone on this mount a lot. It’s a bit higher -by an inch or so - so it’s a little more visible but not nearly as distracting as when mounted to the screen.
