They will offer you an exchange for a higher VIN first. Be ready with a decision to make things go faster. Personally, I recommend taking the exchange, it's been an incredible truck for me, no issues at all and I'm at 18k miles. VIN 14xxx

No judgement if you want a refund, just sad to hear this happened to you.
I dont think Tesla offers exchanges. They do buy backs and what you choose to do with the funds is up to you (ex: place another order)

Though, to be fair, they have so much inventory of them now it likely would be only a few days or less before they find a new vin

Didn't know that! I've only seen folks exchange that had similar bad luck. Perhaps I made an assumption without realizing it

Yeah, thats what i was told by the service manager when they bought back mine (i was going to initially ask for an exchange) of course, information varies by sc to sc…. (Ex how to get wheel covers, some are shipped to homes, some can get them installed at sc?)

i think those who got “exchanges” basically had quick turn arounds and went through an expedited order process

when i decided to order again, i was immediately given a VIN after placing the order. I didnt end up buying for a number of reasons but yeah it was quick.

At service now and they plan to replace “device cluster assembly” under a service bulletin. The advisor didn’t think it was related to a concern I listed, but wasn’t really sure what the DCA even was since he’s not a tech.

I have issues, but they are minor, broken window switch, noise in front motor/axle, hit a deer in a snowstorm, etc.
So I went to Tesla and they treated me like a customer, gave me a loaner and did some of the repairs. I am Happy.
