IIHS crash test footage of Cybertruck released

IIHS crash test footage has been released for the Cybertruck. This is the Moderate Overlap frontal crash test where 40% of the front hits rigid barrier at 40 mph (much harder than the full-overlap 35 mph frontal and other government crash tests).

But, but, this must be fake. Because I heard the Cybertruck was dangerous because it didn't have crumple zones!

Seriously though, it's time the NHTSA develop more modern tests that are harder to get 5 stars on (or perhaps make the scale go to 10 stars). This could allow Tesla to better differentiate the Cybertruck from other legacy trucks that currently get 5 stars.

Watched a video on this test on youtube recently. A surprising number of vehicles (especially suvs and trucks) do really badly on it. Lots of intrusion especially in the footwell and lower door frame (making it potentially challenging for driver to get out) others had crappy airbag positioning allowing heads to slip off to the side and impact hard surfaces (windows, dash) increasing risk of head injury. Looks like the ct did pretty well
