ANC … not noticing

I just got ANC
Turned it on and off a few times

I can’t tell any difference. Wife could not as well .

am I missing a step to activating it?

This is the most useless feature and I cant believe how excited I was for it.

1. Why does it need to calibrate every time I drive it?
2. Why does it only work with music super low or completely off or with the windows closed?
3. Why isn’t it more pronounced?

my little cheap headphones provide better noise cancelling. I’m sure I don’t under the tech behind this but I would have preferred the ability to move my Cybertruck forward and back with my phone over this.

When it was announced me and others pointed out it's terrible for the S/X.

People hoped that the CT would be better than those, but it appears to be the same. Some say they can hear it, but every time I play music above 3 it says paused for loud music.

I don't think they even touched it since they released it on the Model S in 2023.

I think it's a feature check box that Tesla doesn't care about. At least it was with the S/X. 3 years later and it's still unnoticeable.

Agree ... no difference. Makes sense that such a feature dependent on microphone input would be inop when overwhelmed by music volume.

OMG to most of this thread ... This may come as a shock to some of you but you don't actually hear all frequencies. Blocking out distracting ,sounds with earbuds or headphones is easy as they dominate your ear canal. In an open space like a car, selecting certain frequencies sound waves to neutralize and then reversing those sound waves electronically and them play them via the small speakers in the ANC system is a completely different thing.

Imagine you listening to a podcast and the guy next to you on the airplane is trying to talk to you or your on a flight to Hawaii and they are playing Hawaiian music over the cabin speakers but your earbuds headphones muffle those sounds. Tesla can't be that aggressive with it's ANC because you need to hear a lot of things to drive like car horns or emergency vehicles sirens. It's designed to primarily reverse play the sounds from wind as well as tire and road noise, not the sound of your wife's voice which probably is why most of you are complaining that it doesn't work like your earbuds. /s

I guess that those of you who love your "way better" earbuds or headphones ANC, just wear them in your vehicle as needed when you drive ... Oh and good luck with that as in, I hope you don't die. /s

Odd post.

Other companies have ANC in their vehicles and it is good. Tesla implemented extremely poor ANC on the S/X and people were hoping they improved it on the CT.

At this point, it doesn't appear they have.

Most people may have a hard time perceiving the difference, but it does lessen the tire "thud" quite a bit.

It's not really possible, feasible, or desirable to try and attenuate a wide frequency range for this kind of implementation. If you have a bumpy road somewhere, so listen out for the lower range of thuds and clunks.

Agree, I hear no difference, even with no audio playing.

And perhaps it's my imagination, but I feel that the volume of music is lower now, for a given volume setting position...?

Since ANC is on, I can barely hear my kids fighting over "He is touching me" on the back seat. ANC is a life saver.
