Picked up my new cybertruck and I Love, Love it. Before driving it I looked at the tires which looked pretty big and noticed ATR in tire name. (Pirelli scorpion ATR), I questioned the delivery/dealer guy and he said they were not All terrain. However the road noise on the freeway was terrible. At low speed on asphalt no noise but at freeway/interstate speed its pretty bad, not what I expected. they were not quiet like my two test drive CTs. Is it road noise, tire noise or some kind of drivetrain noise?. What should be the physical size or size markings for the all season core wheels?

They’re considered all seasons. They’re 285/65/20. What tires did your test drives have? CT is louder than other Teslas on the freeway, I don’t pay much mind to it.

It’s the ATR tires. My FS CT came with the Cyber ATs, which were surprisingly quiet and smooth for an AT tire. I bought a Core set with ATRs hoping for even quieter and longer range for long western summer roadtrips, but the ATRs disappoint. They’re not super-quiet, they’re very harsh if they’re only mildly over-inflated (I keep mine at 48psi to reduced the harshness), and not sure I gained much in range. I’ve serviced my truck a couple time, got loaner CTs with the Goodyear ATs so backtoback comparison: the Goodyear AT is a quieter smoother tire. Weird but that’s been my impression. ymmv

It’s probably the road, lol.

AS have generally been reviewed as the smooth, efficient, and less audible of the 2 OEM options.

Very odd results you're experiencing. I had the all-terrain cyber wheels for a month and went to the core wheels and tire setup, and the difference is night and day when it comes to smoothness and quietness with the core setup.

Have any of you gone with Michelin Defender LTX Platinum and if so how does it compare to the stock Goodyear AT?

Sorry I should’ve been more clear: IMO the ATRs/Core are very sensitive to tire pressure. Higher pressures make the tire less compliant and louder, whereas the Goodyear ATs were virtually unchanged with higher pressures. Lowering the pressures to ~48psi cold on the ATR has substantially improved nvh. Im guessing it has something to do with the shape of the ATR (and obviously the construction too), which has a bit very different roundness profile on the tread than the AT. I didn’t think to lower the pressure until after my loaner with the ATs, so won’t be able to go back in compare again with the low pressure improvement.

wish I knew what the test drive tires were. it's weird that these tires say ATR yet are considered all season. They were noisy on the freeway yesterday. Maybe lowering the tire pressure as others have suggested will probably help? I don't think changing the tires will be an option. Today on the asphalt two lane highway they seemed quiet.
