My local newspaper published this article today from a New York Times news service - it really is amazing how much the CT triggers people. I mean, I thought the PT Cruiser was a hideous car, but never in my wildest dreams would I give its driver the middle finger.

It's crazy. I can't wait for it, as I think triggering people will be hilarious.
Yeah, it's a tiny percentage of people who are negatively triggered, but they are triggered really hard. It's quite the phenomenon. A psychologist could do some ground-breaking work on the exact mechanism of the cranial short-circuit causing the odd reactions, but I still don't think it would make the reactions understandable to a normal and rational person.

It's just very odd, even more odd than the styling of the Cybertruck itself! Chalk it up to the genius that is Musk.

The author, Joe Bernstein, was posting on this board a couple of weeks ago looking for owners to share their experiences with him. The inputs he got were interesting, lol. (https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/Berstein thread) Seems like he finally got his article out. I will post the article in the other thread.

Was on the highway to work the other day, a crotch rocket got in front of me and started to shake his head negatively with the helmet on and flipped me off and raced away..

Yesterday had a pick up driver swerve into my lane as to scare me?

I mean these are unbelievable things that I'm witnessing, it really makes you wonder the mentality of people and what they are capable of doing..

For every middle finger I have gotten two dozen thumbs up. But, that does not make me think it is okay. I guess Model T drivers got the finger from guys on horses. Certainly farmers that had the first steel wheeled tractors did not feel the love either.

Why be so aggressive though? The future does scare people. The CT does look like the future at last.

The other day I tried a new response. I get asked or told that the CT is NOT a truck. Well, now I just say "sort of". That leaves the conversation open and refusing to draw a line that I am right and they are wrong softens the transaction it seems. Certainly, given the choice, and we do have a choice, I chose CT not F150.

Towing is amazing, efficiency is great, but the ride and smoothness is the best thing I have ever driven.

I went to Quebec City from Richmond VA via Pittsburgh on the trip up 1,400 miles and 1,000 miles back. We bought a camper in Quebec City. for the 1,400 miles up it was 372 WPM and towing the 22' camper (3,000 pounds) it was 602 WPM. That spread is about the same as an ICE pickup towing and empty.

That also means that 150 miles going from 85% down to around 20% towing IS a reality.

I will do a detailed post later.

I've been run off the road, flipped off, had people scream obscenities, etc etc etc.

Who cares? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Their opinion means nothing to me!
(I mean, the running me off the road part is bad....)

I had my new favorite reaction yesterday.

I was stopped at a red light and a person made a left turn towards me. as he passed me he stuck his head out the window, looked at me stone faced, with no expression and just waggled his tongue around at me.

LMAO I have no idea if that meant he liked it, hated it, or wanted to lick whip cream off of me.
If I was a woman I would have been creeped out. I laughed for the next 5 minutes on my way to work.

I had one yesterday that as I approached the intersection, the guy gives me a thumbs down. I was sure to show him my gesture with one of my fingers that shall remain nameless to let him know what I thought of his thumbs down.

Every day the middle finger from Ford drivers mostly and I amazingly did get 2 from electric bike riders, no, I was driving safely and gave no reason for the ignorant, childish behavior. I've also been yelled at with GAY. Again, mostly from FORD or Dodge truck drivers. So amazed by the ignorance and monkey like people out there in 2024!! I just laugh, smile and drive on because I know Im waaaaaay better off than them. :ROFLMAO:

People who are triggered by things that they have no right to object to are whacko nutjobs, sometimes amusing, sometimes even dangerous.

I've had a couple of small pickups (Datsun, Chevy S-10), but never had nor wanted a full size pickup before. But as long as full-size pickup drivers don't act like jerks on the road, it's their choice of vehicle, just as my choice is my own.

To me, the foremost appeal of the Cybertruck is that it should be crazy durable, and lower maintenance (no oil changes, brake jobs half as often, etc). Powertrain (except batteries, which ARE replaceable) million-mile, body that doesn't rust nor dent as easily as most, etc. I don't plan to go into war zones (inner cities), but that the metal can stop a 9mm is nice too.

That it has room for a stash of SHTF stuff (I don't live there now, but I grew up in the Southwest, you do NOT go anywhere without water and sun shelter at an absolute minimum; adjust as needed for local conditions, add emergency food, first aid kit, self-help tools, etc) without getting in the way is a major plus.
