Currently I would not pay $10,000 for FSD. Maybe the $8000 per my reservation, but even then I am not so sure. That said I really want auto park. Even if it is simply lining up with a stall getting out and letting the CT pull forward 25 feet.

What are the odds that Tesla could make autopark (as described above) a stand alone feature adding to Autopilot but not FSD.

No cost would be great but it might be worth $500 as a party trick and fitting into tight spaces downtown.

Right now, Autopark is like letting your grandmother drive, except slower.

We'll know more when all the autonomous features are rolled up into a single stack, using the V11 Beta technology. Initially I'll probably forego the FSD purchase and opt for a subscription.

My needs are simple. Just go forward 25 feet and stop so I don't have to worry about hitting any bodies car with my door. I am not looking for valet parking. If it takes 30 seconds to do that I am ok with it.

Parking the Caravan, I can go onscreen or in app and put an 'X' where I want my caravan, and the truck will reverse it in there for me.

Really? Does it rely on sonic/radar type sensors or is it doing it blind?

I would pay for autopark separate if it were like 1500 max. Not 5-8k. This would interest me as I have no desire for FSD, just the auto park. But I do not see this happening.

Just with normal parking as we have it now, the car knows the parking spot.

Imagine selecting 'park, and a % of probability comes up. Then it's a matter of reversing back or going forward a bit for the car to get the necessary info to create a bird eye view of the area,, and do its thing.

It tight situations an AI with Crab/Tank superpower can do it better than a human.

If not immediately, it will be in a future update.

No need to add FSD. Autopark is included with normal autopilot. I borrowed a Tesla a couple years ago. Auropark did not work very well back then.

Autopark is only part of FSD as far as I know. If part of autopilot then i'll use it. otherwise I aint paying for FSD just to get autopark!

My bad. You need to add the enhanced autopilot to get the autopark. FSD not required.

Autopark is not included with Autopilot. You need EAP (Enhanced Auto Pilot, which is not available anymore) or FSD to get it. The car you drove either had EAP, FSD, or had a one month trial of FSD.

Also, the Autopark feature in Teslas didn't work the best because it only used the ultrasonic sensors to detect an empty parking spot between two other vehicles. No cameras involved, so it did not know where the parking lines were. Tesla recently updated Autopark to use the cameras and park within the lines. At first it was only with the refreshed Model S/X, but now I believe they updated Model 3/Y software to also use the cameras (not 100% sure if Model 3/Y have it yet because I never use the Autopark on my Model 3).

Be careful what you wish for. I was in a kiteboarding/sailboarding lot and these non-boarders came in and used autopark to squeeze into a spot. I told them I thought it was a neat trick, but had they thought about what was going to happen when a sailboarder tried to get into the car right next to them. They decided to park somewhere else. So it works in a standard lot with large parking spaces, but so does regular parking. To me the value of autopark is when FSD gets good enough that we can ask the car to let us off at the entrance, go park itself, and come get us when we are done, without getting damaged or hurting anyone.

yes, it is on M3 and MY now. If you roll up to an empty parking space it offers to park, or at least it did before the most recent release. We do have FSD on our M3 though.

My thought is if it is a legal spot and you park with in the lines then it becomes the other guys problem. Now being the other guy. I just open my door until it contacts the other car and I squeeze out. I try not to damage either car but it is the cost of parking in an urban setting. No paint to scratch on the CT. So we are good.

I dream of this ability. But I have to say, the first time I do it will be terrifying as all get out. I may need to have it let me out somewhere that I can get picked up in a follow car so I can watch everything it does till I learn to trust it.

I will certainly be wanting it to work though. I really hate valet parking but really want the benefits of valet parking.
