Let me clarify. It’s fast enough for a 7000lb truck. I also have a model X plaid and a 911 GT3 RS which gives me a high level of the understanding of “fast”. The AWD is perfect for the CT.
the Beast is quicker than your Porsche and about even with the X Plaid.

[QUOTE="…, I took it up to 110mph the other day and when I had to switch lanes I felt the truck was gonna flip over due to its weight and size.. Also, awd is quicker than 99% of trucks out there. I'll gladly take more range and reliability over a quicker 0-60 lol

Weird, I thought with the four wheel steering it would just translate laterally without any lean at all.

That’s cool. I’m just looking to cruise. The AWD is perfection. I don’t have a need for the beast and I would probably still be waiting for it today if I didn’t switch to AWD. I prefer to have the CT in any iteration right now than to be waiting for it.

I’ve had my Beast since March. When did you receive your AWD?

One misconception about the advantage of the Beast is that the extra power is just for crazy acceleration.

INCORRECT.

if you are planning to hook up an extended range battery (adding weight) and hook-up a heavy trailer (RV, boat, etc) you’ll definitely understand the benefits of the extra power when you are trying to maneuver in traffic. The laggy acceleration in the AWD with the added weight makes it borderline dangerous to try and pass other vehicles in trying to get to your off/on-ramps or just to improve your position on the highway.

with the Beast it almost feels like you don’t even have a trailer, whereas with the AWD you are begging for that extra “oomph” to make your maneuvers safely. The reduction in STRESS from having that added power at your disposal is a PURE LUXURY that you will not understand until you have experienced it.

Lol not scared of "extra performance"

There is more to performance than 0-60... The AWD truck gives me more than enough speed, I took it up to 110mph the other day and when I had to switch lanes I felt the truck was gonna flip over due to its weight and size.. Also, awd is quicker than 99% of trucks out there. I'll gladly take more range and reliability over a quicker 0-60 lol
Been driving trucks for years, went well past 110mph many times. Not once have I ever felt that it was going to flip over lol. Try not to jerk the wheel next time.

Hmmm… I just convinced myself to stay with the Beast because of 2.6…
Multiple sources have clocked 3.8 on the AWD, which is faster than the original Performance Model S. I am thinking Tesla may be able to push both CB and AWD a bit more without any hardware changes. I don't doubt that with some upgrades the top speed can be boosted as well.

I’d rather have the power available for anytime a teenager tries to race me as opposed to getting smoked off the line by a Honda
LOL, the Accura NSX Type S isn't exactly a Honda and they only made 350 so how likely are you to encounter one, and even if you did, would it be that embarrassing? Nothing else they've made has come close to beating an AWD.

sorry, what are the payload capacities of the AWD vs TM?

edit: I looked it up. The difference is ~200lbs. Not too significant.
You are right. I just looked up in the manual. CB with all season tires is 200 lbs less payload capacity than Dual. CB with all terrain tires is 230 lbs less….

Looks like the safety rating is less about motor weight and more about tires. Either ways, we are only talking about 200 lbs difference. Not a huge difference.

MotorTrend recorded 2.5 for the Beast.

Mark my words on this. The more people learn about them, the more they are going to ask you if your truck is “One of those Cyberbeasts”? Then you have to explain why you opted for the slower model

Hahaha, I'm 74, I don't have to explain being "conservative." ?

To me its slower because I sold my Raptor R (0-60 in 3.7) for it and also even my Model Y Performance is quicker. The AWD is slower than both of those so I couldn't downgrade. But it's all preference, if that feels fast to you that's awesome! Just don't drive the Beast because you'll recalibrate your brain and have instant regret.
I have a Performance Model 3 which, on paper, is a lot faster than my Dual Motor Cybertruck. But the actual experience of driving them is more a wash. The Dual Motor Cybertruck feels far quicker than it should be, or needs to be, vs. the Performance Model 3. It has to do with how massive it is relative to the Model 3, it just feels quicker than it has any right to.

Perhaps more relevant to this discussion is when it comes to ICE vehicles, an electric vehicle with the same 0-60 mph performance numbers as an ICE vehicle, the EV will always win in the real world, because there is no "prep" before you go quick, you just mash the pedal, no planning, no thinking, no getting everything just right. In traffic, while already rolling, the difference is night and day. Because the ICE vehicle almost always has to downshift a couple of gears and it takes time for the air in the intake to accelerate.

The bottom line is that an EV with 0-60 mph times that are a full second slower, are still "quicker" in real world traffic situations.

Oh crap, I hope you are kidding.

Most people are so jealous already, that would just make it worse. The Dual Motor is the less ostentatious choice. At least I can appear reasonable and say, "Yeah, I didn't splurge to go one point three seconds quicker."

This way my low-slung Model 3 Performance is still my quickest car, which seems appropriate anyway. Even that lacks the Performance badging, so I can just say it's a Dual Motor (which it is) if anyone asks.
