Beast better than AWD, change my mind

Faster acceleration in a truck is really dumb. Dual motor is plenty of speed. It's $20k premium to brag that you have a CB because it is otherwise the exact same truck except for shorter range. I don't think there is any logical reason to buy the CB.

How many smiles does one have left in life? I say if you can afford it, buy it. I love my "Founders" edition M3P and paid a premium for it. It still puts a smile on my face 5 years later.
I am bummed about the range like everyone else, but it's still an amazing machine. I can't wait for my Cyberbeast smile.

Realistically I’d do the crazy launch thing like 20 times before the novelty would wear off. For a $20,000 premium that amortizes to $1000 per crazy launch. If I bought an AWD and could magically unlock super acceleration for $1000 per shot I’d say hell no so how’s that any different? Between that and the lack of any other major feature on the Beast (I can buy a light bar ala carte) I’m justifying just buying the AWD

Sure, you may not do “the crazy launch thing” too many times, but you would still benefit from the “Beast” drive mode (acceleration wise) every day. There are tons of opportunities to wow people with the acceleration without needing to do a launch.
A ton of people feel like the novelty will wear off quickly but I disagree. My 2018 Model X still gets attention for the falcon wing doors six years later. Insane.

When I went from a P90D to a 90D because I road trip a lot and the range was convenient, my nephew told me to "floor it" followed by "is there something wrong with it, it's slow."
That's 0-60 in 3 secs vs 4 secs... spoiled (and I got offended).
Better not remind everyone that the Lamborghini Countach did 0-60 in 5.4 seconds...

I get into trouble when I am driving my other cars, getting on a highway ramp with a none Tesla S , I yell at the car or truck to get going Need to be mindful for sure.

Very true. My wife has Model S LR and it was our first Tesla. I chuckle every time I punch it, especially when I have a noob passenger who has never experienced that instant torque and 0-60 in 3 seconds. It’s always the same “Holy S#*+” face they make. Never gets old

I know. I have this wild dream that I’m sitting in a 7000lb tank from the future and next to me, at a stop light, is a ricer in a suped-up Honda civic type R, fitted with an exhaust that sounds like grandpa farts. He revs the 4 cylinder go kart and looks at me with a grin, which soon turns into a face full of snowflake tears as my tank leaves him in the dust when the light turns green. Crazy, right?

Hell you could have many million dollar super cars line up next to you and they will have those same tears.

i went with beast. i was planning on getting all the accessories, powershare, and fsd regardless so from my perspective the foundation series for a beast was no different in price then waiting for non. With dual you are spending more for the foundation series by losing out on possible tax credit but you do get it sooner. if i were to get AWD i would probably wait to see if tax credit comes but it could be years so hard to do.

Very true. Certainly more value in the foundation beast than the AWD. There’s definitely far more overpay in the AWD just to get it a few months earlier than the beast. I know if I got the AWD I’d feel more of a knot in my stomach for loosing out on the tax credit and $7k FSD possible savings.

I think the value is specific to the purchaser. The AWD is perfect for what I was intending on purchasing anyway. FSD, Powershare/install credit (bonus didn't expect) 35" AT's, Wall connector, all weather mats, Lifetime premium connectivity and nothing that I don't want or need. Works out perfect for me but that is just me me.

I can see where the Beast would be the ideal choice/value for others like @PilotPete that was going to get a Porsche sports car and that insane 2.6 is a dream come true

People always say the acceleration gets old after a while. My decade-long experience with Teslas says otherwise. Fast acceleration never gets old!

Also I'm in a position where I can afford the extra and it might retain its value a little longer. To me, go big because we only have one life. Imagine car shows this summer while the truck is still a hot commodity and the Cyberbeast gets all the attention and your AWD sits with the Tacoma off roads. You're already going to be getting attention like a lamborghini gets for the next year at least.

I still think the dual motor will get offered an acceleration boost package at some point. Lowering the gap between the two. I cant guarantee it ofc but thats the trend with the newer vehicles
