If the tailgate is down and you put it in reverse your are blind unless you lower the tonneau all the way so the rear view mirror can be used. Very dangerous situation. I didn't realize this and backed into the side of a truck across the street and never saw it even after hitting it. Most maddening. I recommend the following changes to the display to address this.
1. Display a warning on the screen when reverse is active and the tailgate is down.
"Retract Tonneau to view your direction with the rearview mirror"
2. Alternately, notify and fully retract the tonneau for this condition.
3. Modify the rear camera so it rotates with the tailgate to maintain rear vision at all times
This cost me dearly when I crushed the rear door of the truck I hit. My truck sustained no damage
