When I got my first FS there were still very few after market anything.
I had my calipers painted and was fairly happy with the result. Picked a color that more or less matched my wrap.
Traded this car in and getting another this coming week which will get the same wrap. I see most people now use caliper covers if they want some wheel color.
These guys seem to make a lot of colors close to what I want.

What did you do to yours? Any regrets? Anything you’d do different given a second chance (which I have)?
What are the pros/cons of the covers vs the paint?
Any specific product recommendations? Paint type/caliper cover brand etc.

Just personal opinion...if you insulate the calipers, it’s bound to drive up the heat retention. That said, with regenerative braking, the calipers are seldom used, so heat retention may not be an issue. If it was me, I would paint, in a contrasting color.

I haven’t done anything to mine and don’t plan to, but if I was I’d probably go with these covers over paint, just because paint fades or chips off over time. Those particular ones only come in red or black though.

That was my reasoning the first time around. Minimum insulation and mechanical interference.
Thinnest possible coverage is paint intuitively.

I went with caliper covers and sprayed engine enamel paint to preserve the decals on the covers.. I believe the covers are made by one company in a variety of colors (and sold by many vendors). I recently removed my wheels for cleaning and noted that the calipers were extremely clean. From a looks perspective they make the calipers look massive-what a truck needs to project.

I've been considering the covers from abstractocean since I'm not sure how well I can mask off the calipers. They are on sale for the 4th for $192 a set.

As I mentioned in my previous post, they are made by one manufacturer; they all have a diamond shaped emblem etched on the side (which I removed). Amazon has them much cheaper.

There must be two manufacturers.

Re: fading or chipping: I painted the calipers on my Corvette years ago with a 2 part epoxy paint made for high temp use cases and I never had any issues of fading or chipping. It’s a bit of a pain to use, but it’s durable as hell.

I'm more of a believer in "the best part is no part" so i just leave mine with the stock finish. I don't give a flying fuck if it's the same as every other Cybertruck out there. They all end up recycled into scrap at the end of life anyway.

Hey, look, I just saved $192 plus installation time!

Yeah I think I’ll save myself $192 too. I don’t need to be hearing another thing rattling.
