As a day 1 reservation holder, early adopter and purchaser... while I understand why Tesla continues to sell the Foundation series to maximize profit, I hate it.

I was hoping I would have some level of extra value in my truck being a foundation series. I recently saw a newly assigned VIN that was in the 70,000 range. So there will probably be 100,000 of these foundation series by the time they truly stop making them, if not more.

So unfortunately for us early adopters who waited 4+ years there will be no additional value by having a foundation series, if anything our value sinks faster once non-foundation gets released. As there won't be too many people looking to spend say $80k on a used foundation series with XXXXX miles that will be all over the used marketplace when they can get a brand new cybertruck for the same price. Bummer. Maybe if I hold onto it for 30+ years it will have some value then.
It will be worth a shit ton in long term future, it's like the first iPhone. Regardless, I intend to use mine every day and the aesthetics will never lose it's allure. There is no flexibility for them to change the look of the truck, It will only be software/hardware upgrades from this point on.

I am curious will test drive will lead to instant order. Many have mentioned how cool is SbW and how disappointing to drive anything else after driving Cybertruck.

70k? The highest I've seen for a new delivery is in the 30k range and it was made a week ago....at least according to the poster.

You sure about that?

I'd be interested as well as it was 36xx and a newly built truck. Also, we know the VINs do not line up with deliveries. For whatever reason. When Tesla had the recall that 11k CTs were made we were in the 17XXX in VINs.

Edit: And all of the new CB deliveries are in the 25XXX range. Maybe they are allocating VINS in some strange way.

I tried to find can't find it now, it was posted on Facebook a few days ago. Hopefully, someone just photoshopped it and it wasn't real. As obviously for us who bought the less the better for long term value. I am vin 5437

There's no additional value in the FS. In fact, it will take a bigger hit if non-FS stick to their 80/100k prices because the accessories and FSD don't have much value on trade-ins.

Exactly.

FS will be worth exactly $0 more than non-FS on the used market for similar trims, heck maybe worth LESS if FS are associated with the early issues we read about here.

I ponied up the extra dough for FS AWD because I wanted one sooner (delivered on 05/30). I would‘ve added FSD to a non-FS, along with some of the other accessories, anyway.

Now, if they would just get the Air Compressor Ultra and Off-road Light bar in-stock so I can spend that FS $2,500 voucher, haha!!

You realize there are over a million early adopters. If FS is limited how do you decide who gets one? What Tesla should have done was released FS in tiers.

Gold Foundation Series: $299,990
Silver Foundation Series: $199,990
Bronze Foundation Series: $99,990

This will separate the men from the boys.

LOL, yeah and most all have declined. Wait list is over, anyone who wants one can get one now including Mexico and Canada.

That's so messed up. I still don't have a VIN. So someone in Mexico will get theirs before I get mine.

Tesla will get the Cybertruck to less than $80K the same way they reduce the cost of manufacture of their other models over time.

Specifically, they are always looking for ways to perform every process faster/better. They look for ways to eliminate production steps, shorten the production line and increase throughput. They are always leveraging higher volumes with their suppliers to get lower component costs. When they are ready to add another production line, they take all their learnings from the initial production line and incorporate them into the new production line.

Anything that helps them build more Cybertrucks, more quickly, helps lower the cost to produce. This is how a company brings maximum value to buyers of new vehicles. No other manufacturer does this as well, Tesla was forced to become experts at delivering value in order to compete with ICE vehicles, vehicles that inherently cost less to build due to not needing an expensive battery. Now, no one can effectively compete with Tesla. That's how they managed to go from a small EV startup, producing just a handful of hand made cars in 2010, to a major automaker with the best-selling car in the world, gas or electric, by 2023, only 13 years later. By offering superior value. Higher quality vehicles at lower prices. This is why other automakers are running scared and doing everything they can to slow Tesla down.
Yeah I agree. They are masters of cost reduction. I'm just thinking more about materials, especially the steel. Also labor costs are almost parabolic. I know the line is pushing for the highest percentage of robotic manufacturing which alleviates this of course. It will be interesting to see what, if any differences there will be between FS CT and the standard 80k truck.

I was also looking at the new Silverado. Quite nice. Huge battery. Similar price to AWS CT. I can only fathom that GM is taking a huge loss on that truck.
