that's the point... towns don't need to be connected... each can be independent with rooftop solar and batteries in each home....V2G is a needless expense.
Literally that's the place you'd want V2G.

Having extra batteries just sitting around would be a needless expense. My house is not at peak energy use if I'm not there, and in rural areas cars are not going to be skimped upon. And more batteries on the grid means each battery is being cycled a little bit less.

at what cost to the longevity of the vehicle batteries?

Yeah I agree it sucks and it seems to be geared towards the lowest possible trim of the CT and what GM, ford and stellantis will come out with their electric trucks. I took deliver of a model 3 on June 6, 2018, just as Ford was winning the election in Ontario and believe it or not I got the 14 K grant though it took them 6 months to pay me. As BC and Quebec are offering generous EV incentives, there is no reason why Ontario shouldn't and the federal government should be offering an incentive up to 100 k for pick ups which generate far more pollutants than smaller cars. Considering in Ontario we are paying 15% GST on the CT, it would be reasonable to refund part or all of this tax. Furthermore when buying a CT in Canada it is far more expensive than the US as the exchange rate is 1.26- 1.28 (over the last year) between the USD and CAD, the price of all teslas in Canada is actually 1.42 higher than the price in the U.S.

So... No trucks qualify for it?

-Crissa
Yes, Base model & dual motor would qualify by the announced starting price, when it was unveil. Also, The Ontario Government used to have $14,000 incentive for EV, with another $1,000 for home charging device, however since Ford's election, none anymore!

...they're slowly dying over time anyhow?

If you only use the segment of charge 40-60%, you'll see nearly no difference between aging and cycle degradation. Add to that a V2G system would know when weather events were happening and would charge your vehicle to full for you in those cases, as well as focusing on charging when cheapest, it would add convenience and money saving to the deal.

That, too. LFP just have a much lower response to sitting high or cycles than the NMC batteries tested in most charts. And we think but don't really know about the NCA batteries in current Tesla, they may have something in between.

Cycle life is only one thing - and it's much less an impact than temperature or time. A V2G car will be plugged in more often and will be able to manage its battery temperature better.

Politicians just want the perception of doing something good. They really don’t want anyone to actually get an EV credit. Same old crap.
